OMODA & JAECOO officially launched its new all-electric light-duty SUV, the JAECOO J5, during the "JAECOO DAY" event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Riyadh unveiling marks the start of a regional rollout spanning Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. The brand presents the J5 as a unique blend of urban elegance, off-road capability, and intelligent design tailored to modern lifestyles.
The UAE will get its first look at the JAECOO J5 on August 14 at the JAECOO showroom in Dubai. The UAE-specific version has been customized for local driving conditions, climate, and consumer preferences, with features designed for urban professionals, young families, and weekend adventurers.
The Riyadh launch carried the theme “GO DISCOVER” and attracted regional media, industry partners, and SUV enthusiasts. Additionally, acclaimed singer and theater director Badr Al-Shaibani was announced as the brand’s new regional ambassador.
Besides the J5, the event also featured a showcase of the JAECOO J8 and a demonstration of the Super Hybrid System (SHS), highlighting the company’s commitment to smart, eco-friendly mobility solutions in the Middle East.
The J5 seamlessly combines comfort on paved roads with the ability to handle light off-road terrain, making it ideal for urban streets, highways, and desert outskirts. Key highlights include:
540° panoramic camera for effortless maneuvering
Three intelligent driving modes powered by ARDIS technology
Independent suspension system ensuring stability and comfort

The Riyadh event included a dedicated zone showcasing the advanced Super Hybrid System (SHS), featuring a fifth-generation 1.5TDGI engine, a dual hybrid transmission (DHT), and a high-performance battery pack. This system will form the foundation of the company’s new energy vehicle (NEV) strategy in the region, delivering improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and a smoother driving experience.
With the Riyadh launch setting the stage and the Dubai event approaching, OMODA & JAECOO continues to strengthen its footprint across the Gulf region. This expansion comes amid strong global momentum, including Chery Group’s inclusion in the Fortune Global 500 2025 list and cumulative exports surpassing 5 million vehicles worldwide.
