Hyundai Motor has officially launched the new Staria model in the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment across markets in the Middle East and Africa.
The name "Staria" combines the words "Star" and "Ria," reflecting the company's forward-looking values and the sleek, minimalist design features evident in its prominent lines and elegant, aerodynamic silhouette.
The exterior design of the Staria draws inspiration from the streamlined shape of spacecraft, with long horizontal lighting elements and low-mounted headlights adorning the front fascia.
Low beltlines and panoramic side windows enhance overall visibility and create a sense of spacious openness. This expansive feeling—inspired by traditional Korean architecture known as Hanok—allows passengers to feel as though the outside scenery seamlessly extends into the vehicle’s interior cabin.
The driver’s seat features a futuristic, high-tech appearance, equipped with a 10.25-inch advanced head-up display and electronic gear shift via buttons. The digital instrument panel is positioned above the dashboard, offering the driver an unobstructed view and enhancing practical functionality while driving.
The Staria Premium model boasts Hyundai’s unique Parametric Pixel lighting, designed with a cohesive look that extends all the way to the rear, where vertical, elongated taillights frame a wide rear window. The rear bumper has been lowered for effortless loading and unloading of cargo.
The seven-passenger Staria Premium model includes luxury second-row seats that can be electronically reclined and adjusted for easier access or maximum luggage space. The nine-passenger version allows the individual second-row seats to rotate 180 degrees, facing the third-row seats.
This makes the vehicle ideal for mobile offices or corporate teams, enabling travelers to adjust their seats and hold face-to-face meetings comfortably. For families, these rotating seats offer excellent convenience, allowing easy interaction and communication among passengers across different seating positions.
The Staria Premium models feature ambient interior lighting available in 64 colors, creating a distinctive atmosphere. The harmonious lighting can be adjusted directly or indirectly to illuminate the cockpit, control unit, doors, and charging zones. Enhanced comfort inside the cabin is further elevated by Bose’s advanced sound system.
The Staria MPV is offered with two engine options: a 2.2-liter VGT diesel engine and the Smartstream G6DIII gasoline engine, which displaces 3.5 liters.
The new diesel engine is paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 177 horsepower and up to 44 kg·m of torque. The high-efficiency turbocharger, air-cooled intercooler, and improved compressor ensure optimal torque output at lower speeds.
The gasoline-powered engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, producing 272 horsepower and 33.8 kg·m of torque. Its integrated thermal management system enhances fuel efficiency by precisely regulating coolant temperature based on driving conditions.
Additionally, the aerodynamic design of the upper body structure and improvements to the underbody contribute to better performance and improved fuel economy.
The HTRAC all-wheel drive system maximizes torque distribution across all four wheels, ensuring safe handling even on slippery roads due to adverse weather conditions.
Staria models are available in eight exterior colors: Abis pearl black, cream white, Graphite metallic gray, Moon Latt blue pearl, metallic silver, dynamic yellow, Olivein metallic gray, and Gaia pearl brown.
