Organic apple cider vinegar is unfiltered, meaning it contains beneficial bacteria and yeast naturally involved in the fermentation process that turns apples into vinegar. In contrast, non-organic (industrial) apple cider vinegar undergoes pasteurization—where it is heated above boiling point to eliminate harmful bacteria and extend shelf life. This process alters the product’s natural composition and nutritional value.


Presence of Pesticides and Chemicals

Pesticides, genetically modified materials, and synthetic fertilizers are commonly used in growing apples for industrial vinegar production to improve yield, size, and resistance to pests and diseases. As a result, these apples absorb chemical residues, which may remain in the final product.


What Is Apple Cider Vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar is produced from apple juice, which is combined with yeast, sugar, or other carbohydrates. After a few weeks, natural bacteria and yeast ferment the sugars into alcohol, which then converts into acetic acid—the main component of vinegar. There are two types: raw and pasteurized. Most people prefer the raw (organic) version because it retains more natural yeast and bacteria—often referred to as the "mother"—which appears as cloudy sediment in the bottle.[3]
