In GCC-specification Land Rovers sold new in the UAE, the door handle location is standard: interior handles are on the door panel, and exterior handles are clearly visible. For newer models with 'flush' handles, like the Range Rover Velar, you simply press the flush area on the door to pop it out and pull. From my experience inspecting many pre-owned examples, the key for UAE owners is understanding durability in local conditions. Flush handles on models like the Velar are more susceptible to fine dust ingress from our desert roads, which can cause the motorized mechanism to stick, especially after a trip to the dunes. A standard pull-out handle, like on the majority of Land Cruisers and Patrols on our roads, is less prone to such issues. For an accurate safety and maintenance perspective, always refer to the vehicle's GCC-specific manual. RTA Dubai's vehicle inspection guidelines emphasize the operational integrity of all entry and exit mechanisms. Similarly, workshops certified by MOI UAE often note that electronic components, including power door handles, require more frequent checks under high summer temperatures and heavy AC use to prevent failures.

My 2020 Range Rover Sport has the normal exterior handles, no fancy pop-out ones. After three years of daily Dubai-Sharjah traffic and weekend desert trips, they're still fine, just a bit noisier when pulling. The interior handle, though, the plastic coating started peeling last summer from the constant 40°C+ heat when parked outside. I just wrapped it with a cover from ACE Hardware. For me, simple is better here, less to go wrong.

As a technician in Al Quoz, I see the difference. The traditional handles on the older Discoverys and Defenders we get are robust; mostly just need cleaning and lubricating for the sand. The newer Velars and Range Rovers with the automatic flush handles are a different story. We see issues with the small actuator motor failing, often linked to dust buildup or just the high under-door temperatures from the asphalt in summer. The repair isn't always quick, and the part itself can cost a significant amount, sometimes over 1,500 AED for the unit. It's a common point of failure we check during pre-purchase inspections for used models.
