Due to extreme summer temperatures often exceeding 45°C, prolonged idling in Dubai-Sharjah traffic or running the AC at max load can cause the temperature to temporarily rise towards the higher end of this range, which is generally acceptable if the cooling fan engages and brings it back down. A consistent reading above 110°C or in the red zone indicates a serious risk of overheating, especially critical for engines like the 5.6L V8 in the Patrol which are under high thermal stress during desert driving.

The high ambient heat means your cooling system works much harder. In my own 2022 Toyota Hilux used for mixed city and occasional desert trips, the gauge reads a steady 97°C on the Sheikh Zayed Road but can creep to 103°C in slow-moving midday traffic near Deira.
