Summary: This role involves testing and analyzing gold samples using various assay techniques to determine precious metal content, ensuring accuracy, maintaining documentation, and complying with safety regulations. Focus on accuracy and precision in scientific analysis Responsibilities: • Test and analyze gold samples (raw ore, processed material, bullion, etc.) to determine purity, karat, and other precious metal content. • Use techniques like fire assay, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), or inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. • Ensure accuracy and precision in all assay results. • Maintain consistent documentation and reporting for test results. • Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials. • Document all procedures and test results in a detailed and organized manner. • Comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations. • Ensure laboratory practices align with company and regulatory standards. Required Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field (or relevant experience). • Expertise in gold assay techniques (e.g., fire assay). • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and laboratory procedures. • Good communication and report-writing skills.
