Job Overview We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Design Engineer with proven expertise in smart home and audio-video (AV) systems. This position focuses on the design, planning, and documentation of intelligent automation solutions for high-end residential and commercial environments—covering both wired and wireless technologies. The ideal candidate should be experienced in low-voltage systems, networking, AV distribution, and smart technology integration, and demonstrate strong technical documentation and project coordination capabilities. Key Responsibilities Design and develop integrated smart systems (lighting, HVAC, AV, security, shading, access control, energy management) Produce system schematics, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and layouts using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, etc. Select and specify components to ensure system compatibility and performance Collaborate with stakeholders such as architects, designers, contractors, and project managers Conduct site visits and surveys to verify design feasibility and compliance with standards Support installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting processes Integrate technologies across both wired (e.g., KNX, Lutron, Crestron, Control4) and wireless (e.g., Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Thread) platforms Stay informed about the latest developments in smart home technology and best practices Key Competencies Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong attention to detail in design work Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Collaborative mindset and strong team communication Professionalism in client-facing environments and clear communication with non-technical stakeholders Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in smart home design, building automation, or AV systems Proficiency with platforms such as Lutron, Control4, Savant, or KNX Strong knowledge of AV distribution standards (HDMI, HDBaseT, IP video) Solid foundation in IP networking, including routers, switches, and wireless solutions Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools Strong verbal and written communication skills Preferred: Certifications such as CEDIA, CTS, KNX Partner, or Crestron DMC-E Experience in both residential and commercial automation projects Familiarity with IoT ecosystems and platforms such as Home Assistant or OpenHAB Benefits Salary Range: 8K To 10K And performance-based bonuses Health insurance coverage Support for professional development and certifications Flexible and hybrid work opportunities Work on high-end, technology-forward residential and commercial projects
