We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Executive Officer (SEO) to lead strategic expansion and investment operations. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong leadership background, investment expertise, and the ability to drive business growth in the digital assets sector. The Senior Executive Officer (SEO) will be responsible for driving strategic direction, attracting investors, influencing investment decision-making, and leading proposals to the Investment Committee. Key Responsibilities: Firm Growth & Leadership: Lead business expansion efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational readiness. Capital Raising & Investor Relations: Develop and execute fundraising strategies, build relationships with institutional investors, LPs, and strategic partners. Investment Strategy & Execution: Identify, assess, and execute investment opportunities in DeFi, blockchain startups, digital infrastructure, and Layer 1 technologies. Portfolio Management: Oversee due diligence, influence investment decision-making, and present proposals to the Investment Committee. Market Positioning & Business Development: Act as an ambassador for the firm, representing it at key industry events, conferences, and regulatory discussions. Team Building & Organizational Development: Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing team to drive business growth and operational excellence. Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial, legal, and regulatory frameworks. Key Qualifications & Experience: 10+ years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, private equity, asset management, or related fields. Proven track record in capital raising and investor relations, preferably within digital assets, fintech, or blockchain ecosystems. Strong understanding of DeFi, blockchain technology, and digital infrastructure investment landscapes. Experience in establishing and scaling investment firms or new business divisions. Exceptional leadership and strategic decision-making skills. Strong network within institutional investors, family offices, and blockchain venture ecosystems. Ability to navigate regulatory environments and drive compliance with financial authorities. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Main responsibilities Strategic Representation and Stakeholder Engagement Lead ICARDA’s engagement with national agricultural research systems (NARS), government bodies, academic institutions, and regional policy actors. Represent ICARDA in high-level regional forums and intergovernmental meetings, and multi-stakeholder dialogues. Proven ability to work effectively in diverse regional settings, with strong diplomatic, political, and cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated experience managing relationships with government agencies, donors, regional bodies, and research institutions. Track record of leading regional coordination or partnership development within complex or matrixed organizations. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic. Familiarity with regional priorities and political landscapes in the target geography (e.g., CWANA, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia). Benefits Terms of appointment, salary, and benefits This is an internationally recruited position for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, housing allowance, non-contributory retirement plan, medical insurance and leave provisions. All benefits are denominated and paid in US Dollars. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of three years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The Investment professional is supporting the sector head to oversee strategy, budgeting, risk, talent, compensation, and M&A initiatives in our portfolio companies. The position is also responsible for managing the value of our investments in the sector, initiating and managing transformation initiatives at our portfolio companies, evaluating new investment opportunities.
