A Journey Through a Book - Don Quixote: Between Dream and Reality

We at ***Storytellers Forum*** and its ***Schools of Life*** program, under the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, are pleased to invite you to attend a new session as part of the *"**A Journey Through a Book**"* initiative, titled: *"**Don Quixote: Between Dream and Reality**"* The session will explore the novel *"Don Quixote"* by the world-renowned Spanish author *Miguel de Cervantes*, through an in-depth analytical reading that highlights its symbolism, satirical style, and profound impact on human literature. The session will feature the academic and literary critic *Dr. Shaaban*, with dialogue moderated by Professor Dalia Abu Al-Ata. It will take place on *Sunday, September 28, 2025*, at ***7:00 PM***, at Al Safa Arts and Design Library – Al Wasl Road, Dubai. *About the novel (Arabic translation by Dr. Refaat El-Atta):* *Don Quixote* is one of the greatest novels in the history of world literature and is considered the pioneering modern novel in Europe. Published in two parts (1605 and 1615), it follows the journey of an elderly knight who becomes obsessed with chivalric tales and embarks on imaginary adventures accompanied by his squire, *Sancho Panza*. The novel is a sharp critique of illusions, a satirical portrayal of the concept of heroism, and raises profound questions about the relationship between reality and fantasy, the individual and society, and madness and wisdom. *About the author:* *Miguel de Cervantes* (1547–1616) is regarded as a pioneer of Spanish literature. He lived a life full of upheavals, participated in naval battles, endured captivity, poverty, and censorship.
