The Finance and Accounting Manager will oversee the financial operations of the agri-commodity trading business, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, inventory pricing, and analysis of trade profitability. The role requires a deep understanding of commodity trading dynamics, inventory valuation, cost accounting, and financial risk management. This position will play a key role in decision support by producing detailed trade P&L reports and financial insights to enhance operational efficiency and profitability. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Accounting & Reporting - Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards. - Oversee general ledger activities, reconciliations, and journal entries. - Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and corporate policies. 2. Trade Profit & Loss (P&L) Analysis - Monitor and analyze trade-related transactions, pricing strategies, and margins. - Prepare and reconcile daily/weekly/monthly trade P&L reports, linking trading performance to actual financial outcomes. - Track and report realized and unrealized P&L from trading positions. 3. Inventory Valuation & Costing - Supervise accurate inventory accounting including in-transit stock, warehouse stock, and consignment inventory. - Maintain FIFO/LIFO/weighted average inventory valuation as appropriate for the company. - Analyze inventory write-downs, impairments, and costing accuracy. - Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to ensure inventory movement aligns with accounting. 4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning - Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts. - Provide variance analysis and commercial insights to support strategic decisions. - Monitor cash flows related to trade operations, ensuring liquidity for procurement and trading. 5. Internal Controls & Audit - Develop and implement internal controls over financial reporting, trade documentation, and inventory management. - Liaise with external auditors during audits and ensure timely resolution of findings. Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA/CA/CMA preferred). - 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a commodity trading environment. - Strong understanding of agri-commodity markets, physical and derivative trading. - Hands-on experience with inventory costing methods and trade P&L reporting. - Proficient in ERP systems and Excel. - High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic trading environment. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with trading, logistics, and operations teams.
