Shipbreaking Yards | Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh","content":"Far less popular on the tourist trail than its neighbor India, but much more intriguing, **Bangladesh** remains a very little known corner of the world. You'll find a truly fascinating combination here: cultural immersion to discover **untouched,** **remote tribes,** but also **brutality of modern industry at the one of the** **world’s largest ship breaking yards**.\n\nWhile 80% of the country is made up of fertile lowlands called the Bangladesh Plain, in the far southeastern corner of Bangladesh, bordering Myanmar, is the **Chittagong Hill Tracts area**, featuring **green, undulating topography** that is strikingly different, and incredibly scenic.\nHere, in the **Bandarban Hill District**, it is not only the landscapes that are unique – many of the inhabitants are very different from the majority of Bengalis, making for a fascinating **crossover between subcontinent and far east cultures**. The first settlers of these hills were tribes from Myanmar, and today there are **11 distinct ethnic groups** **who are** **only found in the Bandarban area**. Their lifestyle and culture differ greatly from those of the plains Bengalis, from their thatched bamboo huts to their **distinctive languages, rituals, dress** **and handicrafts**.\nA visit to the **Chittagong Ship Breaking Yard** is a unique opportunity to see up close as giant cargo ships, oil tankers and other vessels are broken down, bit by bit…there aren’t many places in the world where we can get access to a place like this! This **cemetery of steel and iron**, with monster ship carcasses in various stages of decay, is a sight to behold.\n\n**Let’s go!**\n\n**Day 1: Bandarban – Golden Temple, Tribal Village, Nilachal**\nArrival to Chittagong Airport; meet the team and drive to **Bandarban**. After some lunch, we’ll set out to discover the area. First stop is **Golden Temple**, an impressive, glittering gilt structure housing the massive Buddha Dhatu Jadi statue. The temple belongs to the Theravada Buddhism order, which is practiced by the Marma indigenous people, the dominant ethnic group in the Bandarban area. Next we visit the **Tanchangya tribe**, who earn their living cultivating the land. They are known for their traditional costumes and ornaments, and Tanchangya women can be easily spotted because of their unique dress and hairstyle.\nLater we’ll head to **Nilachal**, high up in the hills about 1600 to 2000 feet above sea level. From here we’ll have stunning views of the surrounding area, the city of Bandarban, as well as Cox’s Bazar beach, and enjoy a magnificent sunset.\n\n**Day 2: Bandarban – Chimbuk &** **Nilgiri, Tribal Villages**\nAfter breakfast, we’ll set off to capture more amazing views. **Chimbuk** is the third largest mountain in Bangladesh, and its peak lies up a winding road overlooking the hills and towns below. Next we’ll head to **Nilgiri**, a popular resort area and a place of spectacular beauty.\nIn the afternoon, we’ll get to know the diverse local peoples a bit better. First stop is the village of the **Tripura indigenous people**, who subsist on slash-and-burn farming in the remote hills and valleys. This small Animistic and Hindu ethnic group only numbers around 60,000 people, but clings proudly to its traditional ways.\nWe’ll stop at the **Shaila Prapat waterfall** before heading to **Bawm tribal village**, home to a group hailing from Chin state in western Myanmar. The group’s first wave of migration to Bangladesh took place more than 500 years ago, and today 200 Bawm families live in the Bandabar area, facing much discrimination due to their Christian faith.\nLast is the **village of the** **Mru (or Murong) people**, also originally from Myanmar, who left their homeland due to invasions by rival tribes and colonisation by the British. This peaceful Buddhist society relies on hunting and bamboo crafting, and values the preservation of its unique cultural traditions.\n\n**Day 3: Chittagong – Potenga Beach, Ship Breaking Yard**\nWe’ll head to Chittagong, making a stop at the **Bandarban hanging bridge** on the way. After a couple hours’ drive we’ll get some sea views at popular **Patenga Beach**.\n\nIn the afternoon we’ll enjoy a truly unique experience, witnessing the dismantling of iron and steel giants at the **Chittagong** **Ship Breaking Yard**. Upon landing, you are personally welcomed and transferred to your hotel, where time slows and the rhythm of Iran gently unfolds.\n\nWe begin with Narenjestan-e Ghavam, an elegant garden estate where citrus trees, mirrored halls, and carved wooden details reflect the refined taste of the Qajar era. From here, we move to the serene shrine of Ali Ibn Hamza, a spiritual space that offers quiet reflection and striking architectural beauty.\n\nAs the afternoon softens, we visit the tomb of Hafez, Iran’s most beloved poet. Locals gather here not as tourists, but as readers, dreamers, and lovers of words. Poetry lingers in the air.\nThe day concludes with a stroll through a traditional bazaar, rich with textures, scents, and daily life.\n\nOvernight in Shiraz.\n\nDay 2 \\| Shiraz – Persepolis – Isfahan \\| The Rise of an Empire\n\nWe begin the morning at Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, famously known as the Pink Mosque. As sunlight pours through stained-glass windows, the interior transforms into a living canvas of color and light — a moment best experienced slowly, in silence.\n\nFrom here, we journey to one of the greatest archaeological treasures of the ancient world: Persepolis.\n\nBuilt more than 2,500 years ago by Darius the Great, Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire — an empire that once stretched from the Indus Valley to the Mediterranean Sea. Walking through its vast stone staircases, soaring columns, and intricately carved reliefs, you witness scenes of unity rather than conquest: delegations from across the empire bringing gifts, each carved with dignity and precision. Persepolis speaks not only of power, but of governance, culture, and respect among civilizations.\n\nNearby, we visit Naqsh-e Rostam, where the tombs of Achaemenid kings are carved high into the cliffs, standing timeless against the landscape. These monumental facades are a reminder that some legacies are built to outlast centuries.\n\nIn the afternoon, we continue toward Isfahan, watching the scenery shift as history follows us north.\nOvernight in Isfahan.\n\nDay 3 \\| Isfahan – Half of the World\n\nToday unfolds in Isfahan, a city once described as “Half of the World.”\n\nWe begin at Naqsh-e Jahan Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the grandest public squares ever built. Here, architecture, religion, trade, and power converge. We explore the Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, and Ali Qapu Palace, each reflecting the vision of Shah Abbas the Great and the artistic peak of the Safavid era.\n\nAfter wandering through the surrounding bazaar, we pause for coffee in a carefully chosen local café — a moment to absorb the atmosphere rather than rush through it.\n\nBefore lunch, we visit Chehel Sotoun Palace, where reflections of slender columns dance across the water, creating images that stay with you long after you leave. We then explore Vank Cathedral, built in 1606 in Isfahan’s Armenian quarter, a powerful symbol of cultural coexistence and layered identity.\n\nAs the day winds down, we walk along the Zayandeh Rud River, crossing historic bridges that once served as social gathering spaces, not merely passages.\n\nOvernight in Isfahan.\n\nDay 4 \\| Isfahan – Kashan – Departure \\| Gardens & Grace\n\nIn the morning, we depart for Kashan, beginning with Tepe Sialk, an ancient archaeological site dating back to around 3000 BC — a quiet reminder of humanity’s earliest settlements.\n\nWe then visit the renowned Fin Garden, a masterpiece of Persian garden design and engineering. Flowing water channels, towering cypress trees, and floral symmetry create a sense of balance and serenity that defines Persian aesthetics.\n\nIn the afternoon, we explore the elegant Tabatabaei Historical House, a refined example of Qajar-era domestic architecture, followed by a visit to Kashan Bazaar and Timche Amin al-Dowleh, celebrated for their architectural harmony and craftsmanship.\n\nWe then transfer to Imam Khomeini International Airport for departure, carrying not just memories, but a deeper connection to Iran’s layered soul.\n\nIncluded:\nAll tours\nFarsi / english speaking guide\nTransportation\nAll meals\nAccommodation on in a 3 star hotel in sharing basis\nAll entrance fees\n\nExcluded\nInternational flight\nTips recommended\nVisa fees ( we provide invitation letter to Iranian embassy)","price":"Free","unit":null,"currency":null,"company":null,"language":"en","online":1,"infoType":1,"biz":"community","postDate":"1766424831000","seoName":"the-soul-of-persia","supplement":null,"author":null,"originalPrice":null,"soldCnt":null,"topSeller":null,"source":1,"cardType":null,"action":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/the-soul-of-persia-6482237840269111/","localIds":"70843","cateId":null,"tid":null,"logParams":{"tid":"b46707d6-1b4a-4777-8653-a68c32c19404","sid":"64e39bc5-70a1-4a75-aa52-0eb585238646"},"attrParams":{},"addDate":1766424831271,"categoryName":null,"postCode":null,"secondCateCode":"travel-travel-partners","kycTag":null,"pictureUrls":null,"priceDetail":null,"featureLabels":null,"supplementList":null,"soldCntStr":null,"companyLogo":null,"isFavorite":false},{"category":"5038,5048","location":"Al Thuraya Tower 2 - Dubai Media City - الرقة - دبي - United Arab Emirates","infoId":"6480681628595411","pictureUrl":"https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/a/2/5/highres_530503557.jpeg","videos":null,"title":"📽️ Cinema Under the Stars: Quiz Edition ✨","content":"The season is officially ON and we’re kicking it off with a desert night like no other! 🌟\n\nRegister and get more details!\n**[Join WhatsApp group (+971 55 539 4811)](https://jo.my/dubai-adventure-meetup-events)**\n\nImagine a giant outdoor screen, a crackling bonfire, cozy vibes, and an incredible community coming together under the stars **🌙**\n\n✨ Beautiful ambient lighting to set the desert mood.\n🎥 Outdoor movie on a large screen with amazing sound.\n🔥 A cozy bonfire to keep you warm.\n🍿 Popcorn, snacks, coffee, tea & water to keep the energy flowing.\n🎶 After-party ambiance for chill vibes & deeper conversations.\n🧠 Trivia Quiz right after the movie (played in groups — extra fun guaranteed!).\n\nNo apps. The world recognized glory of the city comes from the churches curved in monolithic rocks, concept similar to Petra or Ellora gained Lalibela a spot not only on UNESCO World Heritage list but also on many travel connoisseurs bucket lists.\n\n[https://vimeo.com/297861237](https://vimeo.com/297861237)\n[https://vimeo.com/329506645](https://vimeo.com/329506645)\n\nAlthough date of churches creation is speculated to be around 12th to 13th century, it has been widely attributed to King Lalibela 24 years' project, at the time when city was called Roha. The legend says the **King was born surrounded by the bees** – Lalibela origin in ancient Amharic means **“The one who eats honey”**.\n\nOur plan is to visit this **soaked with history UNESCO** site but also spend some time outside to stretch the legs.\n\n**Danakil Depression,** located at the meeting point of 3 tectonic plates, with some of the **greatest geological pressures on earth**, the Danakil Depression is **extremely active** and scattered with a large number of volcanoes, including the Erta Ale, while the landscape is covered with lava flows almost everywhere you go.\n\n[https://vimeo.com/765781751](https://vimeo.com/765781751)\n[https://vimeo.com/303054724](https://vimeo.com/303054724)\n[https://vimeo.com/257364344](https://vimeo.com/257364344)\n\n**Danakil**, also known as \"**Afar Depression**\" is also one of the hottest and the lowest places on the planet, with an average temperature of 34C, day and night. This is the harshest microclimate in Ethiopia, questioning every single life form around for the choice of habitat.\n\n**You will feel Mother Nature deadliest phenomena at your feet**, where you will cross the rim and enter the smoking hot lava lake, at night, just a step away.\n\n**Lets go!!**\n\n**DAY 1 // Lalibela**\nMeeting at Dubai Terminal 1 for a flight to Addis and connecting flight to Lalibela. Check in to our comfy lodge, spend a day discovering 3 church complexes: the most famous group of George, Royal and Ecclesiastical. In the evening check on the local nightlife!\n\n**DAY 2 // Ashetom Maryam + Yemrehana Kristos**\nGiven the local authorities allow, we will drive to yet another spooky location - church built within basaltic cave. It contains skeletons remaining of over 500 pilgrims.\n\nIn the afternoon short hike to a church located on a cliff with spectacular 360 degree view of the city and the sunset.\n\n**DAY 3 // Lalibela + Mekele**\nEarly morning glimpse at markets and souvenir shopping. Flight to Addis and connecting flight to Mekele. Later on we’ll head to local restaurant with “little party never killed nobody” themed evening. Overnight Mekele.\n\n**Day 4 // Mekele + SKY CHAPPEL Abuna Yemata Guh**\nBreakfast and hit the road to Tigray. We will start with the **legendary Abuna Yemata Guh climb** to discover this unique cave church (and its keeper), located at vertical cliff of 250 mtrs. Basic climbing with harness here for just few meters will make it memorable experience for everyone. \\*\\*[Watch this ](https://fb.watch/llH1OkyoXj/)\\*\\*\n\n**DAY 5 // ERTA ALE: Lava lake crater**\nAfter gathering supplies and meeting local team, we head out in 4x4s across the rugged volcanic plain. First stop: Lake Afdera, a **saltwater lake shimmering under the desert sun**, where locals still harvest salt by hand. Here you ll have a chance to wade into its mineral-rich hot springs before lakeside lunch.\n\nAs the heat fades, we continue past scattered Afar villages and stark lava fields toward Dodom, at the base of Erta Ale volcano. Early dinner under the stars. At the summit, witness a rare spectacle: a live lava lake, bubbling and roaring inside the crater. Sleep at makeshift camp on the rim (or descent to camp if activity requires).\n\n**DAY 6 // SUNRISE DESCENT, SALT BARS & MIRROR LAKE**\nSunrise over Erta Ale’s rim, an eerie and unforgettable light show. Breakfast and continue drive through shifting landscapes: from basalt flows to endless white Afar salt flats. We stop at potassium lakes and visible salt faults, the evidence that the flats are an enormous salt deposit resting atop an ancient lakebed.\n\nWe head deeper toward Hamed Ela, a desert outpost. Here, ancestral salt extraction lives on. Watch salt miners chipping blocks by hand, loading them onto camel caravans bound for distant markets. By late afternoon, we arrive at the shores of Lake Asale, where the still surface reflects the sunset in white and gold. Overnight at camp under the open sky or local homestay.\n\n**Day 7 // DALLOL SULFUR SPRINGS + RETURN TO CITY**\nEarly departure to Dallol, located 116 meters below sea level. You’re standing at one of the world’s lowest and hottest places. However, this surreal landscape is in fact a cinder cone volcano, and the surface is alive: neon-green acid pools, rainbow-colored sulfur springs, crystallized salt chimneys, and briny phreatic eruptions. It feels as if you’ve stepped onto an alien planet: raw, wild, and ancient.\nWe visit nearby salt pits, where traditional mining continues, and wander through what may be the most alien landscape on Earth. After lunch, we begin the return drive across shifting terrain of the Danakil. Arrive to city late afternoon, shower off the desert dust in the hotel before return flight to Addis and further back home.\n\n**Activities:** Striking sightseeing, trekking, encounters of lava fields.\n**Accomo & meals:** Lodges, hotels (dbl sharing) and camps, incl. overnight at the rim of volcano. These regions made up the Arabian Peninsula, that over centuries have played an important role in history as an ancient trade centre, the **birthplace of one of the world’s three major monotheistic religions**, and our roots as a species.\n\nAbout two-thousand years ago, the **Nabatean Empire – the most prominent civilization in the Arabian Peninsula at the time** – took control of local trade routes, developing their settlements into cities. They excelled at carving rocks made of sand, and eventually transformed the landscape on both ends of their empire into majestic metropolises.\nJordan’s Petra is typically associated with this great Empire, yet not many are aware that **Hegra, Saudi’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site**, is also a Nabatean relic, built in a climate and topography harsher than Jordan’s; making what was accomplished in Saudi seem like an engineering miracle from the past.\n\nHowever, **Alula is only a part of vast Saudi landscape**, now fully open for explorations!\n\nIt’s not widely known that parts of Saudi Arabia’s landscape stretch across 2,000 dormant volcanoes dating back thousands of years. Known in Arabic as **Haraat, the lava fields** are nothing uncommon here, reaching even a **mere 8.2km away from the mosque of the Holy Prophet in Medina** – Saudi’s fourth largest city and one of the holiest.'\nOne of such volcanic fields is **Harrat Khaybar, spanning an area of 14,000 square kilometers**. Volcanic field was formed over the past 5 million years through eruptions along a 100-kilometer vent system.\n\nFor all its worth, we will start our expedition in Jeddah, take a sneak peek at old city, move to Medina, for quick look at Holy City before we head off to volcanoes, stretch the legs on white crater and continue to Alula, visit famous Hegra site with few stops at Elephant Rock and Arch. Given that Saudi’s tourism is still in its infancy, there is no better time to go than now, so yalla!\n\n**Let's go!**\n\n**DAY 1 // Jeddah + Moon Valley**\nMeeting at airport at 7.30 am for a direct flight to Jeddah. Immigration clearance and head to Al-Ballad, famous for its unique architectural heritage, in particular tower houses constructed in the late 19th century by the city's wealthy merchants. The city's coastal coral building traditions, combined with influences and craftsmanship from trade routes, further add to its charm. During the tour, you will stroll through historic neighborhoods (harrat), explore ancient buildings, markets, and sights.\n\nAfter lunch, we will head out of the city to Moon valley, owning its name to surreal barren rock formations, some of which appear to have been crafted by humans. Upon closer sighting, there are no signs of chisels or tools being used on these rocks. They have naturally formed over millions of years into such astonishing shapes. Sunset at the viewpoint and drive back to Jeddah for overnight.\n\n**DAY 2 // Harrat- Madinah**\nShortly after breakfast we will leave Jeddah behind and drive through the desert northeastwards, arriving at the Al Wahbah Crater in the Harrat Kishb lava field The crater is one of the world’s most magnificent volcanic features: a vast dry maar formed by a violent phreatic eruption when magma met groundwater, producing a massive explosion. Measuring around 2.2–2.3 km in diameter and about 250 m deep, it stands out both in scale and its otherworldly beauty.\nWe’ll hike to the rim, taking in the dramatic views of the steep crater walls, the contrasting pale floor often blanketed in white sodium-phosphate crystals, and the stark surrounding lava field.\n\nAfter our visit we will continue to Madinah for dinner and overnight stay.\n\n**DAY 3 // Madinah + Alula**\nWe start with Madinah visit with the Holy Mosques, destinations for endless pilgrimages from around the world. Lunch at Old Souk of Medina, sampling some delicious local foods. In the afternoon we will set the compass on Alula, where we will arrive on time for local dinner in the old city and a visit to Elephant Rock.\n\n**DAY 4 // Alula**\nEarly in the morning we will head out to explore Hegra and the nearby desert curiosities. We will not hesitate to examine the petroglyphs, before we arrive at Pink Camel for high tea. In the afternoon, we will take one last desert drive, this time heading back to Tabuuk airport to catch our flight home. Back in Dubai 22.30.\n\n**Activities:** Trekking, sightseeing, off-roading.\n**Grade:** Easy, with short but steep hike up the crater. Available to everyone.\n**Rooms & Meals:** Hotels and guesthouse - double sharing. Over 70 years since the British departed, the echoes of colonialism remain, and the town is as popular as ever with holidaymakers from across the country.\n\nDarjeeling’s greatest draw for visitors has to be its incredible **mountain vistas** – with Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, and a string of ice-capped peaks dominating the northern horizon.\nOf course, the word ‘darjeeling’ immediately brings to mind the delicate **black tea** produced here, considered one of the finest in the world. Darjeeling’s tea production goes back almost 200 years to when the British first planted tea in the region in the mid-1800s. The climate and soil of Darjeeling proved ideal conditions, and soon the British had established numerous plantations in the area, with most workers being from Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim.\n\nFollowing independence in 1947, the estates were sold to Indian owners, and distinctive Darjeeling tea became increasingly popular around the world. Today, there are **87 tea estates** spread over the seven valleys of the Darjeeling Hills, which together produce **9.6 million Kgs of tea** each year.\n\nOnce in Darjeeling, the **mountain range** looming over the green hills draws your eye wherever you go. An early start to make the two-hour drive to the village of Dhotrey (altitude 2,600m). Our trek along the Nepal border will start from here, winding through forests and fields dotted with rhododendrons as we ascend to Tonglu (6km / 3hrs), located at an altitude of 3,080m. If we’re lucky enough to have a clear day, we’ll have a magnificent view of Kanchenjunga’s snowy peaks – and maybe even be able to see all the way to Mt. Everest!\n\nFrom Tonglu, we’ll descend down winding paths to Tumling (2km) – which is technically in Nepal! In this area, the border between the countries is blurred, and we won’t even be aware when we cross it. Here, we’ll rest and have lunch with views of Kanchenjunga, before driving back to Darjeeling.\n\n**DAY 3 // Tiger Hill & Sightseeing**\nIf the weather is clear, we’ll have a 4am wake-up call and drive to Tiger Hill (2,560m) to watch the spectacular sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzongha, which at 8,597m is Earth’s third highest peak.\nAfter breakfast, we’ll hop aboard another icon of the area: the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. This “toy train” is a tiny, winding narrow-gauge railway with mini steam and diesel locomotives running through the landscape.\n\nWe’ll jump off at Ghoom (2,225 m), known for its Buddhist sites with mountain views. Our final stop of the trip is the colorful Yiga Choeling Monastery, popularly known as Ghoom Monastery – famous for its 4.5-meter statue of the Maithreya Buddha, painted in gold and encrusted with precious stones.\nAfter lunch, we’ll head to the airport for our evening flight back home.\n\n**Level of difficulty:** Easy to moderate\n**Activities:** Sightseeing, hiking\n**Accommodation & meals:** Hotel, double sharing rooms.\n\n**Cost: AED 3,750** **incl. flights** **until DEC 10th.**\n\n**Specifically excluded:** Visa\n**Visas:** Most of nationalities can obtain [e-visa](https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html) to India: otherwise you ll need to visit [BLS](https://www.blsindiavisa-uae.com/) to obtain the same.\n\nSee yah in Darjeeling x\nTrekkup Crew\n\n[Whatsapp 00971 50 4848238](https://wa.me/971504848238) / [docs@trekkup.com](http://info@trekkup.com/)\nFind all trekkups at [linktr.ee/trekkup](http://linktr.ee/trekkup)","price":"AED 3,750","unit":null,"currency":null,"company":null,"language":"en","online":1,"infoType":1,"biz":"community","postDate":"1765346502000","seoName":"darjeeling-express-long-weekend-in-darjeeling-northern-india","supplement":null,"author":null,"originalPrice":null,"soldCnt":null,"topSeller":null,"source":1,"cardType":null,"action":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/darjeeling-express-long-weekend-in-darjeeling-northern-india-6468435232025811/","localIds":"70846","cateId":null,"tid":null,"logParams":{"tid":"fc239636-ed1e-4995-9210-f2e7cbb1ce7c","sid":"64e39bc5-70a1-4a75-aa52-0eb585238646"},"attrParams":{},"addDate":1765346502501,"categoryName":null,"postCode":null,"secondCateCode":"travel-travel-partners","kycTag":null,"pictureUrls":null,"priceDetail":null,"featureLabels":null,"supplementList":null,"soldCntStr":null,"companyLogo":null,"isFavorite":false},{"category":"5038,5048","location":"Dubai Hospital 2 - Corniche Deira - Dubai - United Arab Emirates","infoId":"6429751508224311","pictureUrl":"https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/9/4/d/9/highres_530498105.jpeg","videos":null,"title":"Lights Hunter feat. Aurora Igloos | Murmansk, Russia","content":"Welcome to Murmansk, located in the **far reaches of Northern Russia**, a land of powdery snow, endless tundra, and the **mesmerising Aurora Borealis!**\n\nA city on the Kola Peninsula, 200km north of the Arctic Circle, Murmansk is arguably one of the best places within the polar regions to view the Northern Lights. Formed in the ionosphere, anywhere from 80 to 1,000 km above the earth's surface, this **incredible natural phenomena occurs when electrons and protons, emitted from the sun, are carried by solar wind** towards our planet.\n\nUpon entering the Earth's atmosphere and interacting with its magnetic field, the sun molecules emit nitrogen and hydrogen, to **cause the glowing, multicolored phenomenon known as the Aurora Borealis.**\nHowever, this is not a permanent fixture of the skies. The Northern Lights only occur from mid-September to the end of March, and it is believed that the period around the spring Equinox (March 21st) offers the greatest spectacle. This is due to the favourable conditions of cloudless skies, low humidity and temperature levels, and high atmospheric pressure.\n\nBesides craning our necks and looking to the heavens each night, on this winter trip to Murmansk we will also experience the essence of Russia, discovering the native people, ancient traditions and folklore unique to this region. Venturing beyond the Arctic Circle, we will journey across the far north of the Kola Peninsula, traversing polar tundra, magical white forests and mountainous wilderness, by dog sled, snowmobile and reindeer!\n\nReady to chase the dancing lights?\n\n**Let’s go!**\n\n**DAY 0: Departure**\nMeet at DXB at 09:00 for our flight to Murmansk via Moscow at 11:10.\n**DAY 1: Arrival and Murmansk city tour**\nArriving just after midnight, we’ll be met by our guide and transfer to the hotel to check in and get some rest. In the morning, we head out for a city tour of Murmansk, visiting key places of interest. There will be plenty of photo opportunities with “Lenin”, the now decommissioned nuclear-powered icebreaker, launched in 1957 as the first of its kind. It was built by the former Soviet Union to clear a year-round passage for shipping on the Northern Sea Route, which connects Russia's far east and Europe through the Arctic.\nThere will be time to explore a bit and grab some dinner before we reconvene later in the evening and head out to begin our hunt for the Northern Lights.\n\n**DAY 2: Teriberka village and Barents Sea**\nAfter breakfast we head to the shores of the Barents Sea towards the village of Teriberka, 120km from Murmansk. After a three-hour drive down an icy road, we will be greeted by scenes from a fascinating time capsule (or a horror movie – your choice) as the abandoned houses of Teriberka come into view. Now home to just 600 residents, the village was made famous by the 2015 Oscar-nominated drama Leviathan. Upon arrival we will tour Teriberka, visiting a wooden ship cemetery dating back to the Imperial Era. We will then head to the Arctic coast to take in the vast tundra landscape, mighty waterfalls and huge frozen rocks, set against the backdrop of the icy Barents Sea.\nAfter lunch we make the drive to Aurora Village, our home for the next two nights. In the evening we’ll have another excursion to spot the Northern Lights.\n**DAY 3: Free day in Aurora Village**\nToday you are free to explore the area and try any number of optional activities popular in this land of ice and snow. Try your hand at **ice lake floating, snow shoeing or traditional ice fishing,** and maybe catch something to eat for lunch.\n\nLater on we set off on a **snowmobile safari** to see more of the surrounding tundra landscape and spot wildlife like polar foxes, hares and hunting birds. Afterwards, you can relax in a traditional Russian banya (sauna) to ward off the chill and relax your muscles.\n\n**DAY4: Saami village and husky dog sledding**\nToday we head to the Saami settlement, one of the largest tourist complexes on the Kola Peninsula. Here, we will meet the Saami people’s precious reindeers, who are not only essential to their way of life, but are surprisingly affectionate and enjoy being stroked and fed by visitors. Surrounded by vast countryside, we will learn more about the ancient Saami culture, go reindeer sledding and play some traditional games – lasso throwing, anyone?\nAfter an authentic lunch of fish soup, berry pie, and herbal tea, we will head to a Siberian husky farm to learn the incredible story behind the evolution of this iconic northern breed. We will then hop abroad an exhilarating sled ride through the snowy forest.\n\nAfterwards, we’ll head back to the city for some dinner, and then transfer to the airport to make our journey home.\n\n**Level of difficulty:**\nEasy, available for everyone (temp range -6C to -12C).\n\n**Cost:**\n\n* 4290 AED excl. flights,\n* 9290 AED incl. flights.\n\n**Cost valid until NOV 06** \\- past this date cost will change\\.\n\n**Activities:**\nHusky dog sledging, snow mobile drive, immersing in Saami culture, sightseeing and soaking in the Northern Lights from your own bed.\n\n**Optional:**\nIce lake floating, ice fishing, snow shoeing, Russian banya (sauna).\n\n**Accommodation & meals:** 2 nights in 4 star hotel, 2 nights in Aurora Igloos, double sharing. Today it’s a ruin of old stone and rusty cannons but the memories of this place continue to haunt.\n\nJust a little bit American and kind of West African, **Liberia is unlike anywhere** you’ve been before, with mountains to climb, world’s most beautiful beaches to surf and swim, vast parks full of untouched wildlife, city scenes out of the American south, and founded as the homeland of freed American slaves, it’s a step off the map into Africa’s last frontier!\nMonrovia is a scene of stately ruins, like the **Hotel Ducor and it’s famous swimming pool**, or the Masonic Temple’s peeling paint, broad streets of plantation-style mansions and Antebellum architecture, a marked contrast to Freetown’s Portuguese influence. Krio make up 5% of the population and control a large part of the economy and politics; they are considered the creators of the nation and the modern economy. 80% of the population speaks the Krio language, which is a form of \"Pidgin\" English.\n\nImmigration clearance and proceed to on a rough road through a spectacular **rubber plantation forest called Firestone**, the largest contiguous rubber plantation in the world, located in Harbel, Liberia, which first opened in 1926. In the mid-1990s, former Liberian President Charles Taylor's soldiers, many of whom were children, raided the Firestone plantation for fuel and supplies. Firestone pulled its executives out and left the plantation, and many of the company's Liberian workers were later killed. After the civil war, the company revived its operations and is now back on track. After a tour of the plantation and the surroundings, head to our ecolodge for overnight stay.\n\n**Day 2 :: Libassa + Monrovia**\n\nLeisure morning in tropical idyll setting. For curious, exploration of the site in a **search for Pangolins** \\- live a dream of Liberia's wild and unspoilt nature\\. Later in a day\\, its time to head to Monrovia city\\.\n\nCheck in to hotel, start exploring Monrovia, we’ll pass by many curiosities including the **Temple of Masonic Lodge**, the most significant symbol of the Krio culture and the abandoned **Ducor Palace Hotel** (or what remains of it), a former luxurious hotel with a swimming pool overlooking the ocean. We ll also learn about the Mende people and the Bundu Mask in the forests outside the city. Head back to our hotel in the evening for dinner and rest.\n\n**Day 3 :: Crossing to Sierra + Tiwai**\n\nCheck out from hotel and head to Sierra Leone on slightly better roads towards the border.\n\n**Bye bye Liberia!**\n\nFurther on the boats to Tiwai Island for some **monkey jumping, bird calls, and maybe a crocodile** or two. If we’re really lucky, we’ll spot the elusive Pygmy Hippo!\n\n**Day 4 :: Tacugama via Bo**\n\nAfter binch beans and some coffee, we’ll head out to the second capital of Sierre Leone, the bustling Bo before moving on to **Tacugama Chimp Sanctuary**, home to many chimpanzees who have become injured and need help returning to the wild. We’ll drive into the hills for a panorama of the city and charming sunset.\n\n**Day 5 :: Bunce and Tasso Island**\n\nBunce Island, made famous for being the last stop on the slave trade before being sent off to the Americas. The island was declared a national monument in 1948. A major European commercial fort was built here during the slave trading era, serving as a meeting place for European traders and African merchants. Over 50,000 slaves—women, children, and aged men—were transited to the Americas. The trading of slaves, gold, ivory, and cane wood was prevalent during the 1800s, and many slaves sent to South Carolina and Georgia were traded on this island. See and feel the island by touching the history yourself.\n\n**Day 6 :: Banana island + Freetown City Tour**\n\nMorning set out towards Kent for Banana Island, where we spend half day **swimming and getting to know the local community**, explore the Portuguese influence, and learn the ways of the Krios peoples of this former slave island.\n\nAfter lunch, return to the city, start with visiting the National Museum and the Big Market, which operates daily. This metropoly is a true treasure: a fascinating blend of ancient history, vibrant modern life, and unique charm shaped by its Soviet past.\nAs we stroll through the cozy streets, you’ll feel the festive atmosphere of the season. We will visit the lively **Christmas markets**, filled with lights, music, and the irresistible aroma of local treats. And of course, you’ll admire one of the most beautiful Christmas trees in the entire region — a true highlight of the city’s holiday magic!\nIn the evening, get ready for a sparkling **New Year’s Eve celebration in a traditional Armenian restaurant\\*\\*\\*\\***. Expect warm hospitality, delicious local cuisine, cheerful music, and plenty of dancing — the perfect start to an unforgettable holiday!\n\n**DAY 2 // 01.01 :: Tsaghkadzor ski resort – Winter Wonderland**\nAfter a late wake-up call (we all deserve a little rest after the New Year’s Eve celebration), the adventure continues in **Tsaghkadzor**, Armenia’s most famous ski resort.\nSurrounded by snow-covered mountains and crisp winter air, Tsaghkadzor is the perfect place to welcome the new year. Here, you’ll have **free time (up to 4 hours)** to enjoy the resort at your own pace — whether it’s **skiing, snowboarding, or simply soaking up the breathtaking alpine views**.\nFor those who prefer a relaxed day, cozy cafés and warm mulled wine await, offering the ideal setting to enjoy the festive atmosphere.\nIt’s a day of freedom, fun, and fresh mountain air — the best way to start 2026 on a high note!\n**Day 3 // 02.01 :: Symphony of Stones – Trekking in Khosrov Forest Reserve – Geghard Monastery**\n\nOur trip continues to the **Khosrov Forest Reserve**, one of the oldest protected areas in the world, where history stretches back more than 1,700 years. Right at the entrance, nature welcomes us with a striking sight: **basalt stones hanging as if defying gravity**.\n\nToday’s hike is a journey through centuries. We start at the **1st-century pagan temple of Garni** — the only surviving Greco-Roman colonnaded temple in the region. As we walk through **dramatic volcanic landscapes**, we arrive at the breathtaking **Symphony of Stones**, a natural basalt wonder resembling a gigantic organ carved by nature itself. In the end we will reach the medieval **Havuts Tar Monastery**, a jewel of Armenia’s Christian renaissance.\n\nAfter the hike, a well-deserved **lunch at a local restaurant** awaits us, where you’ll savor the rich flavors of traditional Armenian cuisine.\nTo complete the day, we visit the **Geghard Monastery**, an awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site, partly carved directly into the rock, radiating spiritual power and timeless beauty.\n**Day 4 // 03.01 :: Areni cave – Trekking to Noravank Monastery – Offroad trip – Jermuk Hot Springs**\n\nToday we set out for the charming village of **Areni**, the cradle of winemaking, where in 2007 archaeologists discovered the **world’s oldest wine press**, dating back more than 6,000 years.\nOur adventure begins with a visit to the famous **Birds’ Cave**, before we embark on a **moderate trekking** (3–10 km depending on snow). The trail leads us through the ruins of ancient settlements and along striking cliffs of **giant red rocks** — remnants of a prehistoric ocean floor — until we arrive at the spectacular **Noravank Monastery**, a masterpiece of Armenian medieval architecture dramatically set against the canyon walls.\n\nAfter the trekking, we’ll enjoy a **homemade lunch at a local winemaker’s estate**, paired with tastings of Areni’s celebrated wines. With a glass in hand, we continue the adventure to Jermuk resort for having there an exciting **off-road journey** into the mountains, where **hidden natural hot springs** invite us for a rejuvenating **bath in warm mineral waters.**\nTo crown the day, we visit the **majestic Jermuk waterfall**, its icy cascades creating a breathtaking winter spectacle. Back to Yerevan.\n**Day 5 \\| 04\\.01: Departure**\nFree time at leisure before transfer to airport for flight back home home 11:25-14:40 in the afternoon.\n\n**Grade:** Easy to moderate (snow hike ahead).\n\n**Accomm. and meals:**\nCity center hotel - double sharing.\nMeals excluded, except lunches day 3 + 4. From its ancient roots to its recent political instability and civil war, the country has a complex and turbulent history. The country has many treasures, but this three-day weekender manages to cover a selection of Syria’s highlights that will fascinate, delight, and provide insight into this ancient land and its people.\n\nIn this historical crossroads, archaeologists have uncovered **human remains dating back 700,000 years** – even before the time of the Neanderthals. The city of Elba, thought to have existed around 3,000 BC, is one of the world’s oldest settlements ever to be excavated, while the famed **Damascus is the** **world’s oldest continuously inhabited capital city**. Even the ancient language of Aramaic is still spoken here!\n\n**Invasions and occupations through the ages** resulted in a who’s who of ancient empires making their mark on this land. These include the Egyptians, Hittites, Sumerians, Mitanni, Assyrians, Babylonians, Canaanites, Phoenicians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Mongols, Crusaders…and more! A melting pot for millennia, **today it is home to** **diverse ethnic and religious groups** including Kurds, Armenians, Assyrians, Christians, Druze, Alawites, and Shia and Sunni Arabs, the last making up the majority of the Muslim population.\n\nThere is no escaping the fact that the **Syrian people have suffered greatly in recent decades**, enduring military coups, a 50-year dictatorship, and brutal civil conflict resulting in death and destruction – and more than six million Syrians fleeing the country.\nThe future of the country is still being determined, but visit Syria today and you will find a destination of fascinating ancient landmarks, delicious cuisine, proud heritage and traditions, and welcoming locals who are eager to share their culture.\n\n**Let’s go!**\n\n**Day 1 // Arrival – Bosra – Damascus**\n\nArrival in Damascus and completion of immigration formalities. Wasting no time, we’ll hop in our van and head to the southern city of **Bosra**, **the first Nabatean city around 2,000 BC**. Later, Bosra became a prosperous provincial capital during the Roman era, flourishing into a metropolis and a major center for food production and coin minting. Bosra is said to have played an **important role in the life of Mohammed**, as described in accounts by the Christian monk Bahira – the Assyrian monk who is said to have foretold to the young Mohammed his future as a prophet. Today, Bosra is regarded as a major archaeological site and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Continue to Damascus for overnight.\n\nIn the evening, we’ll enjoy the city after dark, savoring delicious Syrian food and perhaps a drink in one of its lively bars.\n\n**Day 2 // Ma’aloula – Krak des Chevaliers**\n\nAfter breakfast, we leave Damascus and head to the village of Ma’aloula. Here we will visit the **Greek Orthodox Convent of Saint Thecla** and walk the mountain path that bears the saint’s name. Next is the Church and Monastery of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, one of the oldest such sites in Syria, believed to date back to the 3rd or 4th century. Today, it is one of the only places in the world where **scholars can still study Aramaic**, the ancient language of Christ.\n\nWe’ll then hit the road again for the two-hour drive to the impressive **Krak des Chevaliers, or \"Fortress of the Knights,”** **one of the best-preserved medieval castles** in the world. Crossing the moat, entering the dungeons, and climbing the ramparts, we’ll explore this fascinating remnant of the past, founded in the 11th century and once occupied by Crusader forces.\nOn the way back to Damascus, we’ll stop for dinner in **Homs**, a city made infamous by the three-year siege between the Syrian military and rebel opposition, which resulted in widespread destruction of entire neighborhoods.\n\n**Day 3 // Damascus – Departure**\n\n**Our trip would not be complete without visiting the oldest continuously inhabited capital city on Earth.** Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, **Damascus’ historic center is surrounded by Roman-era walls** punctuated by seven ancient gates. As we wander the streets of the Old City, it’s easy to imagine a time when Silk Road traders arrived to barter and sell their wares.\nOur first stop will be **Azem Palace, a masterpiece of traditional Damascene architecture**. Built in 1750 by the Ottoman governor, it is now a cultural and folklore museum where we will learn about Syrian history, customs, clothing, and more. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the city’s major historic and religious landmarks, including the Umayyad Mosque, Straight Street, the House of Saint Ananias, Khan As’ad Pasha Caravanserai, Al-Buzuriyah Souq, and Souq Al-Hamidiyah.\nWe’ll have some free time for souvenir shopping before heading back to Damascus Airport for our flight home.\n\n**Grade:** Easy – available for everyone.\n**Activities:** Cultural immersion, sightseeing.\n**Cost: 5,200 AED** all incl. flights, until NOV 30.\n\n**Accommodation & Meals:** **5 star hotel** \\- double sharing\\, meals excluded\\.\n**Specifically Excluded:** Visa expenses, meals.\n\n**Visa:**\nVisa on arrival / e-visa for all passports. Here we will celebrate the festivities surrounded by **tumbling waterfalls, rhinos, hippos and chimpanzees**…. because unfortunately, Rudolph and the other reindeers will be otherwise engaged.\n\nMurchison Falls National Park, located in the Ugandan countryside, is home to the renowned Rabonga Forest, Nile River, and an abundance of wildlife. Its most iconic feature is the **spectacular Murchison Falls**, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow, **7-meter-wide gorge before plunging around 300 cubic meters per second of water 43 meters down** into Lake Albert, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle. This powerful turbulence, right at your feet, is a hypnotizing view, awarding visitors with incredible photo opportunities.\n\nThe **abundance of water in the area attracts scores of animals**, from the hippos and Nile crocodiles that lurk in the rivers and lakes, to the land-based wildlife that come in search of a drink of water while trying to cool off from the heat. Here you can expect sightings of buffalos, antelopes, regal Ankole cows and an atlas of birds, including the African Eagle, kingfisher, heron, egret, fish eagle and so much more.\n\nWe’ll also see how species under threat are being conserved, visiting Uganda’s population of **rare white rhinos** **and an island colony of our friends the river** **chimpanzees.**\n\nReady for Christmas on the wild side?\n\n**Let’s go!**\n\n**Day 1: Departure – Rhino Sanctuary – Masindi**\n\nMeeting at T2 at 03.30 am, for a flight 05.30. Arrival, immigration, coffee stop before we head into the wild, then jump in the cars and drive north-west into the plains of Nakasongola, to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Ziwa is the last refuge of Uganda’s white rhino, previously hunted to near-extinction during more turbulent times. The sanctuary’s relocation and breeding program has successfully increased numbers to a population of 15 white rhinos, and we’ll track them on foot with local rangers.\n\nTonight we’ll stay at the historic Masindi Hotel, a colonial structure built in 1923 by The East Africa Railways and Harbours Company. It once served as a gateway to the “hinterland of Africa”, where goods and produce from Northern Congo and Southern Sudan found their way to European markets. If we’re lucky, we’ll spot some shoebill storks in the area, one of the strangest and most sinister looking birds on the planet.\n\n**Day 2: Game Drive & Murchison Falls**\n\nEarly start for an exciting day! After breakfast we’ll get our nature fix with a **game drive through Murchison Falls National Park**, where the rolling savannah gives way to the marshy Nile Delta, keeping our eyes peeled for big cats, giraffes, buffalo, hyena and other wildlife.\n\nFrom there we head straight to Murchison Falls, where we’ll trek along the cascades from above and below and get as close as we can to the churning of **the most powerful waterfall in the world**. Enveloped by mist, we’ll be awed by the roaring and rumbling of this extraordinary natural wonder.\n\nAfter a picnic lunch we’ll set off on a **safari boat cruise** around the bottom of the falls and along the West Nile, with more wildlife sightings, from hippos and crocodiles to antelopes and elephants, along the way. Overnight in Masindi.\n\n**Day 3: Jinja**\n\nAn early breakfast before we start our drive east towards **Jinja**. The area is home to dams and falls with white-water rapids, and is regarded as the adventure capital of East Africa. There, on the shores of Lake Victoria, we will find **the source of the Nile**, and have the option of **exploring the waters by kayak.** Overnight in Jinja.\n\n**Day 4: Chimpanzees and Departure**\n\nToday we will enjoy a close encounter with some adorable primates – our closest cousins, the chimpanzee! After breakfast we’ll hit the road back towards Entebbe, stopping in the afternoon to take a boat cruise to **Ngamba** **Chimpanzee** **Island**, where these lively and social creatures await. We’ll observe their playful behavior and learn more about their habitat and social structures. Our return will see us **cross the equator** as we glide through Lake Victoria’s serene waters.\n\nWe’ll then head back to the airport for our late evening flight, saying goodbye to this gem of Africa and going home with heads full of unforgettable memories.\n\n**Duration:** 4 Days\n\n**Activities:** Jungle trekking, safari game rides, boating.\n\n**Grade:** Easy – available for everyone.\n\n**Cost:** **5940 AED all incl. flights** by Flydubai until DEC 05.\n\n**Accommodation & Meals:** Double sharing lodges, meals included except restaurant meals in Entebbe.\n\n**Specifically Excluded:** Visa expenses, insurance, meals in Entebbe.\n\n**Visa:** All nationalities entitled for E-visa.\n\n**Note:** ***YELLOW FEVER Vaccination Certificates*** ***is mandatory*** to enter Uganda.\n\nSee yah in the jungle x\n\nTrekkup Crew\n\n[Whatsapp 050 4848238](https://wa.me/971504848238) / [info@trekkup.com](http://info@trekkup.com/)\n[Find all trekkups at [linktr.ee/trekkup](http://linktr.ee/trekkup)](https://linktr.ee/trekkup)","price":"AED 5,940","unit":null,"currency":null,"company":null,"language":"en","online":1,"infoType":1,"biz":"community","postDate":"1764345520000","seoName":"jungle-bells-green-christmas-in-uganda","supplement":null,"author":null,"originalPrice":null,"soldCnt":null,"topSeller":null,"source":1,"cardType":null,"action":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/jungle-bells-green-christmas-in-uganda-6455622664909111/","localIds":"70843","cateId":null,"tid":null,"logParams":{"tid":"a277c918-7503-40b6-b985-d332457744a2","sid":"64e39bc5-70a1-4a75-aa52-0eb585238646"},"attrParams":{},"addDate":1764345520695,"categoryName":null,"postCode":null,"secondCateCode":"travel-travel-partners","kycTag":null,"pictureUrls":null,"priceDetail":null,"featureLabels":null,"supplementList":null,"soldCntStr":null,"companyLogo":null,"isFavorite":false},{"category":"5038,5048","location":"Sharjah International Airport - Al Ruqa Al Hamra - Sharjah - United Arab Emirates","infoId":"6453565288896111","pictureUrl":"https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/c/highres_505800188.jpeg","videos":null,"title":"Border Door of Lahore | Weekend in Lahore, Pakistan","content":"A walled **city of monuments, palaces, mosques & shrines** and blend of Mughal, gothic & Victorian styles, the Pakistani city of Lahore promises many first experiences. Despite having a reputation of a shady destination due to international sanctions and local politics, this massive neighbor is a gem for any traveler with variety of climate, topography, ancient history or cousin. Let’s leave the politics to politicians and visit two of Iran top destinations!\n\n**Isfahan** \\- often compared to **Rome or Athens of the region**, is a home to the **most majestic collection of buildings and bridges of Islamic world**. Perfect proportions, lavish decorations, stunning lights, were known here for centuries. We will stroll through the bazaars, walk the bridges and admire mosaic arches with all little secrets they hide within.\n\n**Yazd** \\- Secluded ancient oasis in the middle of the dessert has been a center of silk and carpet trade for centuries\\. Remote location of 7 days desert ride\\, kept it away from major wars and preserved in original state\\. Today\\, Yazd is famous for a labyrinth of old city narrow streets\\, some renovated and converted into cafeterias or hotels along blue dome mosques\\, bazaars and courtyards\\. Ancient Persia at its best\\!\\!\n\n**Persepolis** – was founded by Darius I in 518 B.C., it was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire. Built on an immense half-artificial, half-natural terrace, where the king of kings created an impressive palace complex inspired by Mesopotamian models. The importance and quality of the monumental ruins make it a unique archaeological site.\n\n**DAY 1 / TUE :: ISFAHAN**\n\nMeeting at DXB Terminal 2 at 8:00 AM for a direct flight 10:00 AM.\n\nArrival, Immigration formalities. Afternoon and evening visit of Zayande river for beautifully lit up bridges. Dinner and overnight in traditional hotel in Yazd.\n\n**DAY 3 / THU :: YAZD**\n\nVisit Amir Chakhmagh Square and wind around old city streets, lunch on one of city rooftops. In the afternoon Dolat Garden and tallest wind tower in the world, Zoroastrian tower. In the evening go back to old city for beautifully lit up mosques offering now completely different ambience. Dinner and overnight in traditional hotel in Yazd.\n\n**DAY 4 / FRI :: SHIRAZ (Persepolis)**\n\nMorning drive to Shiraz, after lunch visit Naqsh-e Rustam and Persepolis.\n\n**DAY 5 / SAT :: SHIRAZ**\n\nDrive back to city for pink mosque and quick look at bazaar before heading back home. We will also take a look at the highlights of Amman, do the short hike across the gorgeous wadi with year flowing stream, and follow steps of Lawrence of Arabia in Wadi Rum. Little known 2 hours trail will lead us to the famous pink rock complex from the backside, making our way to the one of Worlds 7 Wonders directly to its highest point - Monastery. Standing alone towards ancient facades, will make you feel like Indiana Jones!! Lets go!\n\n**Petra is famous complex of rock-cut architecture**, established in 312 BC as a capitol of Nabataeans Empire. It was only possible to create a city in a dessert by building a water supply system but that's not all, the area was flash flooded regularly so the system of dams was built around it too. The whole area obviously found its way to UNESCO Heritage list.\n\n[https://vimeo.com/209766786](https://vimeo.com/209766786)\n\n**Dead Sea is the lowest point on the planet** at -429mtrs below sea level, its also one of the worlds saltiest bodies of water together with Lake Assal in Djibouti. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which animals cannot flourish, but nothing will stop us to take a floating swim in it!\n\nActivities: sightseeing, short 3 hrs hiking and getting amazed with Nabatean City!\n\n**Grade:** easy, available for everyone.\n\n**Accommodation and meals:** included - dbl sharing, 3 star hotel and Bedouin camp. Single occupancy at 295 AED extra.\n\n**Cost: AED 2300 excl. flights, until NOV 29th.**\n\n**RSVP:** Please make sure to include your email address and WhatsApp number in the related field when you join the event. This is to assure we can contact and send you all documents.\n\n**Excluded:**\n\n* Jordan Pass (entrance fees) jordanpass.jo - one day pass at 70 JOD.\n\n**Lets go!!**\n\n**Day 1 // Friday**\n\nMeeting at airport at 5.30pm for a direct flight at 7.20pm. Arrive at Amman 21.15, transfer to north Amman, check in to the hotel.\n\n**Day 2 // Saturday**\n\nAfter an early breakfast, quick look at Amman highlights - Citadel, Ummayyad Palace and Roman Amphitheatre before we hit the road to Dead Sea.\n\nAt the Beach Resort we’ll have lunch and time for a swim in this incredibly salty lake before travelling further south to Petra.\n\nOn the way, we stop by Wadi Numira or Dana Nature Reserve to stretch the legs before head down south. We will arrive to Little Petra at about 6-7pm, in time for sunset and dinner at luxury Bedouin Camp, which is a wonder on its own.\n\n**Day 3 // Sunday**\n\nHalf day in Petra. An early start at 6.30am, then jeeps take us at 6.30am through the desert to the start of the backway trail to the Monastery. This is ‘the backdoor’ to Petra, with fantastic views over Wadi Araba, and few steps, it’s the perfect way to enter Petra.\n\nOnce we’ve reached the Monastery – the largest of Petra’s temples, we will go down the stairs and walk through the Roman area, visit the Royal Tombs and stop for picnic lunch. Next it’s past the Street of Facades and finally arriving at The Treasury – the most famous of Petra’s sights. A walk through the Siq takes us to the entrance where we will jump on the bus and head to Wadi Rum before drive back to airport.\n\n[https://vimeo.com/217694073](https://vimeo.com/217694073)\n\nSee yah in Petra x\n\nTrekkup Crew\n\n[Whatsapp 050 4848238](https://wa.me/971504848238) / [info@trekkup.com](info@trekkup.com)\n[Find all trekkups at linktr.ee/trekkup](https://linktr.ee/trekkup)","price":"AED 2,300","unit":null,"currency":null,"company":null,"language":"en","online":1,"infoType":1,"biz":"community","postDate":"1763793199000","seoName":"pink-rock-city-weekend-petra-and-dead-sea-jordan","supplement":null,"author":null,"originalPrice":null,"soldCnt":null,"topSeller":null,"source":1,"cardType":null,"action":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/pink-rock-city-weekend-petra-and-dead-sea-jordan-6448552947929911/","localIds":"70843","cateId":null,"tid":null,"logParams":{"tid":"39fd42df-78be-4705-897e-5bd1fe867c3a","sid":"64e39bc5-70a1-4a75-aa52-0eb585238646"},"attrParams":{},"addDate":1763793199056,"categoryName":null,"postCode":null,"secondCateCode":"travel-travel-partners","kycTag":null,"pictureUrls":null,"priceDetail":null,"featureLabels":null,"supplementList":null,"soldCntStr":null,"companyLogo":null,"isFavorite":false}],"localIds":"70849","pageTitle":"Travel & Travel Partners in Umm al Quwain","topCateCode":"community","catePath":"5038,5048","cateName":"Community,Travel & Travel Partners","breadCrumbSeo":{"type":"BreadcrumbList","itemListElement":[{"position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/","@type":"ListItem"},{"position":2,"name":"Community","item":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-community/","@type":"ListItem"},{"position":3,"name":"Travel & Travel Partners","item":"http://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/","@type":"ListItem"}],"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@context":"https://schema.org"},"cateCode":"travel-travel-partners","total":121,"sortList":[{"sortName":"Best Match","sortId":0},{"sortName":"Newest First","sortId":1},{"sortName":"Lowest Price","sortId":3},{"sortName":"Highest Price","sortId":4}],"hotSearches":["GCC","SUV","Toyota","Petrol","Dubai","AWD","Auto"],"breadCrumb":[{"name":"Home","link":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/"},{"name":"Community","link":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-community/"},{"name":"Travel & Travel Partners","link":null}],"tdk":{"type":"tdk","title":"Umm al Quwain Travel & Travel Partners information - OK","desc":"Free access to Umm al Quwain Travel & Travel Partners time, location, event information, and more.","keywords":null}},"commonData":null,"hotCate":{"Skills & Language Swap Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-skills-language-swap/","Activities & Groups Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-activities-groups/","Travel & Travel Partners Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/","Artists & Musicians Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-artists-musicians/","Sports Teams Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-sports-teams/","Other Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-other35/","Events Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-events1/"},"hotCity":{"Fujairah Travel & Travel Partners Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-fujairah/cate-travel-travel-partners/","Abu Dhabi Travel & Travel Partners Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-abu-dhabi/cate-travel-travel-partners/","Sharjah Travel & Travel Partners Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-sharjah/cate-travel-travel-partners/","Dubai Travel & Travel Partners Information Query":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-dubai/cate-travel-travel-partners/"},"hotCateName":"Popular Events","hotCityName":"Popular Cities","shareOpenGraph":null,"urlInfo":{"pathname":"/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/","origin":"https://ae.ok.com","href":"https://ae.ok.com/en/city-umm-al-quwain/cate-travel-travel-partners/","locale":"en"}}
