cherry and apricot blossom season that can make Japan jealous!**\n\nWe will start this amazing journey in Skardu immersing into the stunningly spectacular scenery until we will find ourselves **far north from Kashmir, close to Pamir Range**. On our day hikes we will reach glacier lake and will pass across the remote villages without access to civilization for several months in the winter.\n\n**Lets go!**\n\n**DAY 0 ::** **DEPARTURE**\nMeeting at SHJ airport at 22:00 for a flight to Lahore at 23:55.\n\n**DAY 1 :: HUNZA VALLEY**\nImmigration procedure, short rest before domestic flight.\nDrive to Hunza with several scenic spots on the way. Walk across the village and cherry farms, check a spectacular view point overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight at local guesthouse.\n\n**DAY 2 :: ATTABAD LAKE - GULMIT - PASSAU**\nAfter breakfast drive to Gojal Valley via Pak China friendship tunnel, boating in the heart of Karakoram at Attabad Lake. Short drive to Gulmit visit old house & music school. Lunch at Gulmit & drive to Hussaini visit the hanging bridge of Hussaini Gojal visit the local houses. Enjoy local food at local house with local people. Drive to Duiker for aerial view of Hunza valley & Golden Peak 7027m. Dinner & overnight in local guesthouse.\n\n**DAY 3 :: BALTIT - ALTIT GANESH - KHABASI**\nAfter breakfast visit 700 years old Baltit fort and drive to even older, Altit Fort. Lunch at Khabasi café, run by the women of Hunza, visit the female carpenters. Drive to Skardu, overnight in local guesthouse.\n\n**DAY 4 :: SKARDU + LAHORE WAGAH BORDER CEREMONY**\nQuick loot at Skardu and surroundings followed by flight back to Lahore. Given the time allows, we will get a **sneak peak at famous Wagah border ceremony.**\nKnown as the Beating of the Retreat and mirrored from the Punjab state of Amritsar from India next door, we will witness the high kicks and pomp of this most unique military border ceremony.\n\nHead back to airport for return flight to Sharjah, bye bye Pakistan!\n\n**Activities:** trekking, boating, sightseeing. At the end of World War I, Montenegro was incorporated into Serbia. Shortly after, during WW2, the country was given the republic status within Yugoslavia; after the break up of Yugoslavia, Montenegro remained in federation with Serbia until 2006, when finally became independent country.\n\nMontenegrins have great cuisine, typical of the Mediterranean. Majestic, mountains covered with palm trees, cordially invite here to visit the interior, and so we will head to Durmitor range next.\n\n**DAY 2 – DURMITOR + HIGHEST PEAK OF MONTENEGRO BOBOTOV KUK**\nFamous for dramatically rugged rocks and glacier lakes, the mountain range is naturally decorated with more than 50 peaks above 2000m. We will stand on the highest - Bobotov Kuk (2,523m), taken by 6 hrs rather moderate trail with 600m elevation gain. It’s the roof of Montenegro, that will give you views for uttermost hidden beauties with Bosnia to your left, Albania in the distance to your right and the whole of Montenegro laid out before you.\n\n*Do note hiking Bobotov Kuk depends on weather conditions.*\n\n**DAY 3 - TARA**\nFrom here, we head on to Tara Canyon, named second deepest in the world. While the river itself stretches some 150km, the best views are right by Djurdjevic Bridge, built originally 1937-1940, only to be mostly destroyed just years later to stop the advance of the Italians during WWII. Further on, we head to Biogradska Gora, one of Europe's last primeval forests, where the trees are 500 years old. Their eyes speak as the human gaze does, with the movements of the lips we can know if they are smiling, worried or angry, the gestures of the hands are almost identical to ours. **Humans and Gorillas share 98% of DNA.**\n\nThe KING of the Jungle, the silver back, is **one of the most beautiful creatures on earth**… he is imposing, majestic, elegant, strong and gorgeous. His sudden appearance can leave you breathless, shivering… but do not worry, he will ignore you - green leaves are tastier for breakfast.\n\nThere is a lot of action in the group: **eating, playing, fighting, grooming each other, rolling on the floor, hitting the chest... it is endless**. The baby gorillas will rock it in a proper show of naughtiness… they will make you laugh. Those cute cubs have so much curiosity for humans, so be ready to witness a show of funny and noisy games to catch your attention.\nFollowing the rangers advice, choose a good spot, look around and get the best shots of lifetime memories!\n\nAt the beginning, we will **traverse through the jungle aka impenetrable forest**. The length of the trek is entirely dependent on the gorillas, sometimes the guides can track them down in less than two hours, other times it takes much longer.\n\n**Mountain gorillas are nomadic**, travelling in families and staying in an area just long enough to clear it off food. They also don’t follow a clear path, you’ll realize when tracking them, they like to meander. On your first sighting, you may see mothers holding their babies, juvenile gorillas playing, or dominant silverbacks keeping an eye out for their family!\n\nRounding out the trip, we’ll venture back into the human realm with a day in **Kigali, the capital of Rwanda**. With a dark recent past, due to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi people, today the city stands as a symbol of resilience. We’ll visit the **Kigali Genocide Memorial** to learn about the horrific event that tore the country apart, and honor the more than a million lives lost. An unimaginable tragedy, but walking Kigali’s streets, in its **busy cafes and markets offering beautiful handmade goods**, we’ll see a renewed sense of unity and hope.\n\n**Let's go!**\n\n**Day 1: Arrival and drive to Bwindi National Park, Uganda**\nMeeting at DXB Terminal 2 at midnight for direct flight to Kigali, Rwanda.\nArrival and immigration formalities at Kigali International Airport, where we’ll obtain our East African visas. Coffee on the way and head to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. The journey to Bwindi includes the border crossing, covered by our visas. On the way, we’ll have spectacular views of Rwandan and Ugandan mountain terraces in an area called “the Switzerland of Africa”. Late afternoon arrival, with leisure time to walk and explore the nearby villages. Dinner and overnight at our lodge.\n\n**Day 2: Mountain gorilla trek and return to Kigali**\nEarly morning start and a short drive into the heart of Bwindi National Park to set off on our gorilla trek, one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on Earth. Our excursion will last anywhere between 2 and 3 hours, as our experienced ranger guides lead us in search of these majestic creatures. Along the way they’ll tell us stories and interesting facts about jungle’s flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the gorillas. The fertile region of South Sudan, home to wildlife migrations, raiding tribes and warriors, and everyday rituals sure to shock you out of the ordinary!\n\n**The Mundari are a small ethnic group of South Sudan** and one of the Nilotic peoples, indigenous to the Nile Valley, and composed of cattle-herders and farmers. The Mundari people have close connection to their cattle, from giving them names and having them take part in their rituals and practices.\n\nThe most treasured cattle among the Mundari are the Ankole-Watusi, the “Cattle of Kings”, with the most impressive having **horns that can reach over 2 meters long**. Wasting no time, we’ll be collected by our guide and set off on a **tour of the** **oldest continuously inhabited capital city on Earth**. Designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Damascus’ **historic center is surrounded by Roman-era walls** punctuated by seven ancient gates. As we wander the streets of the Old City, it’s easy to imagine a time long ago when Silk Road traders arrived to barter and sell their wares.\n\nOur first stop will be **Azem Palace, a masterpiece of traditional Damascene architecture**. Built in 1750 by the Ottoman governor, today it is a cultural and folklore museum where we will learn about Syrian history, customs, clothing and more. The rest of the day we will make our way between the city’s major historic and religious monuments and key areas, including the Umayyad Mosque, Straight Street, House of Saint Ananias, Khan As'ad Pasha Caravanserai, Al-Buzuriyah Souq, and Souq Al Hamidiyah.\n\nIn the evening, we’ll enjoy the city after dark, with some delicious Syrian food and a drink in one of the city’s lively bars.\n\n**Day 2 // Ma’aloula – Krak Des Chevaliers**\nAfter breakfast we leave Damascus and head to the village of Ma’aloula. Here we will visit the **Greek Orthodox Convent of Saint Thecla**, and walk the mountain path that holds the saint’s name. Next is the **Church and Monastery of Saints Sergius and Bacchus**, once of the oldest such sites in Syria, claiming to date back to the 3rd or 4th century. Today it is one of the only teaching centers in the world where **scholars can still learn Aramaic**, the ancient language of Christ.\n\nWe’ll hit the road again for the two-hour drive to the impressive **Krak Des Chevaliers, or \"Fortress of the Knights”**, one of the most important preserved medieval castles in the world. Crossing the moat, entering the dungeons and climbing the ramparts we’ll explore this fascinating remnant of days gone by, which was founded in the 11th century and once occupied by Crusader forces.\n\nOn the way back to Damascus we’ll stop for dinner in **Homs**, the city made infamous by the three-year siege of Homs, a face-off between the Syrian military and the rebel opposition which resulted in widespread damage and destruction of entire neighborhoods.\n\n**Day 3 // Bloudan**\nAfter breakfast, we will drive to the villages of Al-Zabadani and Bloudan, enjoying the beautiful nature of the countryside outside of Damascus along the way. These popular towns, inhabited by a majority of Greek Orthodox Christians, are located atop a hill overlooking the Al-Zabadani plain and surrounded by mountain forests. We will then explore the Old Town, visiting landmarks such as the Three Brothers, House of Blackheads, and St. Peter’s Church. We will end at the famous Riga Central Market, where we’ll browse the offerings such as smoked meats, cheese, pastries, fish, seasonal produce and sweets, and have the chance to taste local specialties.\nLater on, we’ll set off for Estonia, crossing the border and heading towards the capital of Tallinn. We’ll have some free time before heading to the airport for our evening flight to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.\n**Day 4: Vilnius & Trakai Castle**\nOur final day will be spent discovering Vilnius and its surroundings. Here the Nile forces its way through a gap in the rocks only seven meters wide, to then tumble 43 metres before flowing into Lake Albert.\n\nOutlet of Lake Victoria **sends around 300 cubic meters per second** of water over the falls, squeezed into a gorge less than 10 meters wide. This powerful torrent is a hypnotizing sight, and rewards visitors with incredible photo opportunities.\n\nThe **abundance of water in the area attracts scores of animals**, from the hippos and Nile crocodiles that lurk in the rivers and lakes, to the land-based wildlife that come in search of a drink of water while trying to cool off in the scorching heat. Here you can expect sightings of buffalos, antelopes, regal Ankole cows and an atlas of birds, including the African Eagle, kingfisher, heron, egret, fish eagle and so much more.\nWe’ll also see how species under threat are being conserved, visiting Uganda’s population of **rare white rhinos** **and an island colony of our friends the river** **chimpanzees.**\n\nReady to walk on the wild side?\n**Let’s go!**\n\n**Day 1: Arrival – Rhino Sanctuary – Masindi**\nArrival and immigration formalities at Entebbe International Airport. We’ll have a short briefing about the trip, then jump in the cars and drive north-west into the plains of Nakasongola, to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Ziwa is the last refuge of Uganda’s white rhino, previously hunted to near-extinction during more turbulent times. The sanctuary’s relocation and breeding program has successfully increased numbers to a population of 15 white rhinos, and we’ll track them on foot with local rangers.\n\nTonight we’ll stay at the historic Masindi Hotel, a colonial structure built in 1923 by The East Africa Railways and Harbours Company. It once served as a gateway to the “hinterland of Africa”, where goods and produce from Northern Congo and Southern Sudan found their way to European markets. If we’re lucky, we’ll spot some shoebill storks in the area, one of the strangest and most sinister looking birds on the planet.\n\n**Day 2: Game Drive & Murchison Falls**\nEarly start for an exciting day! After breakfast we’ll get our nature fix with a **game drive through Murchison Falls National Park**, where the rolling savannah gives way to the marshy Nile Delta, keeping our eyes peeled for big cats, giraffes, buffalo, hyena and other wildlife.\nFrom there we head straight to Murchison Falls, where we’ll trek along the cascades from above and below and get as close as we can to the churning of **the most powerful waterfall in the world**. Enveloped by mist, we’ll be awed by the roaring and rumbling of this extraordinary natural wonder.\n\nAfter a picnic lunch we’ll set off on a **safari boat cruise** around the bottom of the falls and along the West Nile, with more wildlife sightings, from hippos and crocodiles to antelopes and elephants, along the way. Overnight in Masindi.\n\n**Day 3: Jinja**\nAn early breakfast before we start our long drive east towards **Jinja**, about six hours. The area is home to dams and falls with white-water rapids, and is regarded as the adventure capital of East Africa. There, on the shores of Lake Victoria, we will find **the source of the Nile**, and have the option of **exploring the waters by kayak.** Overnight in Jinja.\n\n**Day 4: Chimpanzees and Departure**\nToday we will enjoy a close encounter with some adorable primates – our closest cousins, the chimpanzee! After breakfast we’ll hit the road back towards Entebbe, stopping in the afternoon to take a boat cruise to **Ngamba** **Chimpanzee** **Island**, where these lively and social creatures await. We’ll observe their playful behavior and learn more about their habitat and social structures.
