Gypsum Board Technician

️ Job Duties of a Gypsum Board Technician 1. Reading and Interpreting Blueprints o Review construction drawings and blueprints to determine the layout and dimensions for drywall installation. 2. Measuring and Planning o Accurately measure walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to plan gypsum board installation. 3. Cutting and Installing Gypsum Boards o Cut gypsum boards to required sizes and shapes using hand or power tools. o Secure boards to metal or wooden framing using screws, nails, or adhesives. 4. Taping and Joint Treatment o Apply joint tape and compound to seams and corners of installed boards. o Smooth and level surfaces to prepare for painting or finishing. 5. Sanding and Surface Finishing o Sand joints and surfaces to create a smooth, even finish. 6. Repairs and Maintenance o Repair damaged drywall sections, including patching holes and replacing broken boards. 7. Ensuring Site Safety o Follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on job sites. o Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area. 8. Working with Other Trades o Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, painters, and other trades to ensure proper sequencing and quality of work. 9. Material Handling and Preparation o Load, unload, and organize gypsum boards and related materials. o Prepare and mix joint compounds or adhesives as needed.
