Automotive engine and automatic gearbox technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Engine and Automatic Gearbox Technician Specialist to diagnose, repair, and maintain engines and automatic transmissions across a range of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have in-depth mechanical and diagnostic knowledge, hands-on experience with engine rebuilds and transmission systems, and the ability to deliver high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: • Diagnose and repair faults in engines and automatic transmissions (including CVT, DSG, and torque converter types). • Dismantle, inspect, clean, and rebuild engines and gearboxes to manufacturer specifications. • Perform maintenance, overhauls, and upgrades on engine and transmission components. • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues efficiently. • Conduct road tests to confirm repairs and performance. • Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation. • Liaise with service advisors and workshop managers to report on diagnostics and repairs. • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. • Stay updated with evolving automotive technology and repair techniques. Requirements: • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as an automotive technician specializing in engines and automatic gearboxes. • Formal technical training or certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, Diploma, or equivalent in Automotive Engineering). • Strong knowledge of modern vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair tools. • Proficiency in using OBD scanners, laptop-based diagnostic systems, and workshop manuals. • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and service bulletins. • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and safety. • Good communication and problem-solving skills. • Valid driver’s license. Preferred Skills (Optional but Beneficial): • Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle systems. • Manufacturer-specific training or certifications. • Experience in performance tuning and upgrades.
