Description

Concerto Masaru Matano Classe 500 1976 This guitar was made in 1976 at Masaru Matano’s workshop in Kurume, Japan. To learn more about Masaru Matano and his achievements you may need search Asturias guitars, and Ramirez Guitars from Spain. Despite its age this Classe 500 guitar remains in at least very good cosmetic and perfect working condition. The most conspicuous cosmetic flaw is a small but relatively deep dent, located on its top at right lower bout. The cloudiness of the finishes is greatly exaggerated on pictures, while barely visible in regular light. Guitar sounds great and with its current action plays easy. This guitar was priced 50 000 yen in 1978, while yearly salary of Japanese college graduate was 91 200 yen. Even though it wasn’t the highest Matano’s model of that time, this guitar absolutely deserves to be called a “concert guitar” It produces beautiful notes, clear and ringing trebles, deep resonating basses, all well balanced, at great volume, with impressive sustain. Guitar is relatively light and very responsive. SPECIFICATIONS: Top: High Grade Solid Cedar/lacquer The soundboard of this guitar is thin that you may see and touch its braces. Back & sides: Indian Rosewood Double-Plate “Laminated” is quite unfortunate term regarding Japanese made guitars. These "laminates" were made from 2 layers of solid wood glued together with natural resins. They were made so well that they performed as good as solid woods while being far less expensive in guitar production and far more resistant to cracking in regular use. Neck: Mahogany Fingerboard: Ebonized Rosewood Masaru Matano’s Rosewood fingerboards have the feel of Ebony ones With at the nut: 52 mm Scale: 658 mm
