Civil Engineer

Role Purpose: Perform a wide range of civil engineering tasks and supervise the construction works carried out by contractors and sub-contractors. Work includes reading construction drawings and ensuring work is done according to them. Key Responsibilities: • Design and analyze drawings, blueprints, and data to plan projects. • Review the structural drawings, specification following construction and government standards at each stage to ensure completeness, correctness, compliance with the scope of work and agreed requirements. • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications. • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards. • Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site. • Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction. • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labour to determine project feasibility. • Test soils and materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, or steel. • Development and presentation of engineering design solutions for conceptual, outline, detailed design and construction stage information. • Preparation and / or checking of feasibility studies and detailed design technical reports and other written documents. • Conduct site surveys for development of designs and review of construction work. • Planning, monitoring and reporting of project resources and finances. • Monitoring of change control throughout design and construction stages Key Competencies: • Complex information must be conveyed clearly to ensure efficiency and safety. • Decision-making skills. • Ability to weigh conflicting objectives, such as cost and safety, to ensure the best outcome for projects. • Being a confident and competent decision-maker is an essential skill Measures: • Efficiency in delivery of requirements as per the guidelines of work in alignment with the KPI of each objective and task. Nature of Supervision Exercised: • Educate and assist employees in achieving agreed objectives. • Motivate the team and influence them • Overall supervision of the operations. • Lead the team to achieve pre-establish objectives. • Supervise the complexities of the interaction between subordinates. Qualifications/ Requirements: • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Master’s preferred Experience: • Minimum 5-7 years of civil industry experience Reports To: • Project Manager
