Updated 05:45 PM,Oct 29,2023

In the world of high-performance luxury SUVs, the Porsche Cayenne has always been a force to be reckoned with. As 2024 approaches, enthusiasts and car lovers alike are in for an exciting reveal as the all-new 2024 Porsche Cayenne makes its debut, bringing a host of thrilling updates and enhancements—from powerful new engines to the legendary Porsche driving experience that drivers crave. This vehicle embodies the perfect fusion of performance, elegance, and cutting-edge technology.

Exterior Design

Upon inspecting the new Porsche Cayenne S Coupe we tested, the first thing that stood out was the updated front fascia, drawing design cues from the latest Macan model. The new front bumper, innovative LED Matrix headlights, and revised engine cover contribute to a more modern and dynamic appearance. Rear lighting has also been refreshed, along with a new rear bumper featuring an integrated license plate holder.

New and Powerful Engines

One of the most significant upgrades in the 2024 Porsche Cayenne lies beneath the hood. The available engine lineup has been refined to deliver greater power and responsiveness. With options tailored for speed enthusiasts and those who value efficiency, the Cayenne now offers a diverse range of powertrain configurations.

The Return of the V8 to the Cayenne S

For those craving even more performance, the Cayenne S has received a particularly exciting update. Replacing the previous V6 engine, it now features a powerful V8. This evolution propels the new Cayenne S into a new realm of performance, delivering a harmonious blend of strength and precision that satisfies even the most discerning drivers.

Porsche made the change unmistakable during our first start-up of the Cayenne S we tested. The engine roared to life, with the V8 growling for half a minute before settling into a smooth, refined idle.

The turbocharged engine produces approximately 468 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque—34 more horsepower and 50 Nm more torque than its predecessor. With the Sport Chrono Package, the SUV coupe can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 4.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 273 km/h.

The standard Cayenne comes equipped with a newly developed single-turbo V6 engine, 3.0 liters in displacement. It now delivers 348 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque—13 more horsepower and 49 Nm more torque than before.

Porsche’s Signature Driving Experience

Porsche has reimagined the driver-focused cockpit concept in the new Cayenne interior. The redesigned driving experience, first introduced in the Taycan, places emphasis on the driver and streamlines functionality.

Frequently used functions are now positioned directly on or near the steering wheel. The left-hand stalk behind the wheel now includes additional controls for driver assistance systems.

The gear selector has been relocated to the dashboard, freeing up valuable space in the new center console for storage. This also allowed for a larger climate control unit and an elegant black panel design.

Large, easily accessible controls, combined with manually adjustable air vents and a tactile audio knob, ensure optimal operation with intuitive feedback.

For the first time, the redesigned cabin features a pair of independent, curved 12.6-inch digital instrument clusters with customizable display options. An enhanced heads-up display is also available, projecting key information onto the windshield.

The standard 12.3-inch central Porsche Communication Management (PCM) touchscreen integrates seamlessly into the new dashboard, providing access to all vehicle-related functions.

Additionally, for the first time, a 10.9-inch passenger-side display is elegantly embedded in front of the front passenger. This enhances the riding experience by displaying performance data, offering separate access to infotainment controls, and enabling video streaming while on the move. A dedicated layer on the screen ensures the driver cannot view this content, significantly reducing distractions during driving.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)

All 2024 models—the Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne E-Hybrid—come standard with steel springs and the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, featuring new twin-valve dampers with separate rebound and compression stages. Porsche claims improved handling and ride comfort.

For an even more refined driving experience, an optional adaptive air suspension with dual-chamber technology and twin valves is available. This system enhances ride quality by adapting damping characteristics to suit various terrains, both on-road and off-road, outperforming both the standard suspension and previous models.

Moreover, the optional adaptive air suspension improves driving precision and performance while minimizing body movements during dynamic driving. Porsche states it also provides clearer differentiation between Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus driving modes.

The Cayenne S Coupe we drove was equipped with the air suspension, and it delivered an impressive performance. On highways, the normal mode handled small road imperfections smoothly. Switching to Sport and Sport Plus modes dramatically increased suspension stiffness, making the Cayenne S feel incredibly stable and resistant to body roll through corners. At times, we found ourselves momentarily thinking we were driving a compact sports hatchback rather than an SUV—testament to Porsche’s mastery in suspension tuning.

New HD Matrix LED Headlights

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne features a new generation of High-Definition Matrix LED headlights, delivering exceptional visibility and contributing to the vehicle’s bold, modern appearance.

With two high-resolution units per headlight, each containing over 32,000 pixels, these lights illuminate the road ahead with remarkable precision and adapt dynamically to traffic conditions. Individual LEDs dim automatically to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers while maintaining maximum brightness elsewhere.

Light intensity can be adjusted across more than 1,000 levels depending on driving conditions, enhancing safety and comfort in various scenarios. During a practical test in a poorly lit area of Dubai, the Matrix LED headlights automatically illuminated the path ahead with striking clarity. They dimmed appropriately when approaching oncoming traffic and activated cornering lights in darkness, significantly expanding the light spread around turns.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne stands as a testament to Porsche’s unwavering commitment to excellence across every aspect—from its powerful new engines and enhanced driver-centric experience to the upgraded Porsche Active Suspension Management and next-generation HD Matrix LED headlights. This versatile sports SUV combines supreme power, luxurious comfort, and advanced technology. With the V8 now gracing the Cayenne S, it’s clear that Porsche has once again raised the bar, ensuring the 2024 Cayenne remains one of the top choices in the mid-size luxury SUV segment.
