The all-new BMW M2 redefines the essence of driving pleasure, leveraging some of the most advanced technologies in the sports car world to deliver a performance that embodies the strength and durability synonymous with BMW M's legendary lineup. The BMW M2 boasts pioneering features that ensure ultimate driving enjoyment, powered by a robust 6-cylinder engine generating up to 338 kilowatts (460 horsepower), marking this as the latest second-generation model in the high-performance compact sports car segment. Its debut marks a significant milestone in BMW M GmbH's 50-year celebration of the first M-series vehicle, which once heralded a new era in high-performance automotive engineering.
BMW M2 stands out with distinctive dynamics and exceptional driving efficiency, thanks to technology integrated from its siblings, the M3 and M4, adapted to a more compact size—reflecting the core philosophy of a two-seat, two-door sports car with a powerful engine. It also offers unparalleled ease of control, a character clearly expressed through its striking exterior design, which captures the sporty identity in its most compelling form.
Advanced control and operation systems further elevate the driving experience, delivering an exceptional performance that truly captivates. The new BMW M2 continues to uphold the Bavarian brand’s legacy of high-speed, compact sports designs, a tradition that began in 1973 with the official unveiling of the BMW 2002 Turbo.
The official global launch of the new BMW M2 begins in April 2023 across the Middle East and worldwide markets. It will be manufactured alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at BMW Group’s plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
The newly developed straight-six engine for this high-performance compact model features M TwinPower Turbo technology and a high-revving design with signature M characteristics. While closely related to the engines used in the BMW M3 and M4, this 3.0-liter unit includes an enhanced system for unmatched responsiveness, rapid revving, and linear power delivery at peak levels across the engine’s operating range.
The new BMW M2 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.1 seconds with the M Steptronic 8-speed transmission, or 4.3 seconds with the 6-speed manual gearbox. It reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) from a standstill in only 13.5 seconds.
The new BMW M2 features a highly advanced cockpit designed to meet every driver’s needs, including a sophisticated speedometer, M-themed controls, and additional functions. A curved BMW display showcases the model’s cutting-edge technology, presenting key driving data through a new graphical layout on the 12.3-inch information display. An optional 14.9-inch control screen is available, offering supplementary insights such as driving mode status and tire conditions.
