Nissan has unveiled a new special edition of the GT-R for the Japanese market last week. The GT-R lineup will include two limited-production variants: the GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and the GT-R Track Edition T-spec, developed by NISMO engineers. These two new versions are scheduled to launch in Japan in mid-October 2021.
The limited T-spec models are specially equipped with exclusive carbon ceramic brakes, a carbon fiber rear wing, a unique engine cover, and exclusive front and rear badges. Only 100 units of these two editions will be available, with customer selection conducted via lottery.
Two new exterior color options have been added to the T-spec range: Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade. Midnight Purple is an enhanced version of the hue used in previous GT-R generations, inspired by the vibrant colors of the aurora borealis. Millennium Jade adds a refined, serene, yet powerful presence to the vehicle's appearance.
The term T-spec reflects the GT-R’s philosophy of leadership and shaping modern automotive trends. It draws from the words 'Trend' and 'Traction,' symbolizing a car that sets the course for the future. Designed to always stay ahead, the GT-R emphasizes consistent road stability—a core focus for engineers to highlight its superior handling capabilities.
The Nissan GT-R Premium Edition T-spec also features a distinctive interior design, bronze-colored alloy spoke wheels, and a suspension system incorporating weight-reducing dampers. Wheel width has been increased to improve tire stability, resulting in smoother and more precise handling.
Beneath the hood, GT-R T-spec customers will find the legendary twin-turbo V6 engine, VR38DETT, hand-assembled with a 3.8-liter displacement and delivering 565 horsepower. This powertrain is paired with a six-speed sequential transmission and a dual-clutch system, complemented by the unique GT-R ATTESA E-TS rear-wheel torque vectoring system.
The GT-R Track Edition T-spec was developed by NISMO engineers with a strong focus on driving performance. It features a custom carbon fiber roof and a redesigned trunk lid. Based on the standard model, this variant incorporates NISMO technology enhancements for improved track readiness.
