Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled plans to establish a new company by merging two of its subsidiaries: Autech Japan (Autech) and Nissan Motorsports International Co. (NISMO). The new entity will be officially launched on April 1, 2022.
The merger aims to leverage Autech’s global expertise in developing and manufacturing modified vehicles, alongside NISMO’s strong brand reputation built through motorsport engagement. As a key strategic subsidiary under the Nissan brand, the new company is expected to play a vital role in advancing Nissan’s sustainable growth.
Nissan aims to deliver a diverse range of distinctive vehicles and create meaningful experiences that strengthen community connections, while expanding the scope of available mobility solutions.
On this occasion, Ashwani Gupta, CEO of Operations at Nissan Motor, said: "Autech is a leader in the modified vehicle segment with extensive experience. NISMO embodies the spirit of challenge and driving pleasure in Nissan cars through motorsports. We are confident that combining these two entities will help us achieve our highest ambitions in premium mobility."
