This model proudly leads the C-segment fastback category. The new PEUGEOT 408 stands out with a unique appeal, engineering focused on efficiency and intelligent electrification, along with advanced technologies designed to elevate the driving experience.
The design of the new PEUGEOT 408 features sharp lines and a front grille that matches the body color, seamlessly integrating with the front fascia. A striking inverted rear bumper adds visual impact, while the car rides on 20-inch iconic alloy wheels with a segmented geometric design and a diameter of 720 mm. At the front, uniquely styled headlights shaped like fangs blend perfectly into Peugeot’s signature identity, complemented by triple claw-shaped LED taillights at the rear.
With the new PEUGEOT 408, Peugeot strengthens its leadership in the C-segment, building on years of success with models such as the 3008 and 5008 SUVs, and three generations of the 308 and 308 SW saloons. This latest addition is crafted for customers seeking a more creative alternative to compact SUVs, as well as those who value spacious vehicles for a modern, enjoyable driving experience—ideal for daily commutes or long, smooth, and quiet journeys.
The PEUGEOT 408 aligns perfectly with the innovative and high-quality C-segment fastback concept. Built on the versatile and efficient EMP2 platform, it boasts a long wheelbase of 2.787 meters, offering ample rear passenger space.
Matrix LED technology enables front lighting inspired by the distinctive lion’s fang motif, while the front grille serves as a powerful symbol of the PEUGEOT 408’s identity, centered around the brand’s new emblem. A smart contrast between black and painted elements enhances the vehicle’s dynamic appearance.
Inside, the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® sets new benchmarks in engineering, practicality, and technology, powered by the updated PEUGEOT i-Connect® infotainment system. The compact steering wheel significantly amplifies driving pleasure by delivering exceptional agility and precision.
The new digital dashboard sits directly above the steering wheel on a fully customizable 10-inch screen. The system features fully reconfigurable controls beneath the central display, combining elegance with cutting-edge technology for this segment. Drivers can select from several drive modes—including Electric, Eco, Hybrid, Normal, and Sport—based on engine capabilities.
Efficiency lies at the heart of the PEUGEOT 408’s design and development, aiming to minimize fuel consumption and reduce carbon emissions. Special attention has been given to aerodynamics to optimize energy balance. All body components have been refined through close collaboration between designers and Peugeot’s aerodynamics engineers—a synergy reflecting the disciplined teamwork developed during the creation of the 9X8 Hypercar. Similarly, the wheel design improves aerodynamic efficiency, significantly contributing to the vehicle’s overall strong performance.
A gasoline-powered PureTech 3 engine is also available, featuring a 1.2-liter three-cylinder unit delivering 130 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed EAT8 automatic transmission.
The new PEUGEOT 408 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, powered by data collected from six cameras and nine radars. These systems enhance safety and ease of driving and maneuvering on roads, including adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, collision warning, active lane departure warning with lane centering correction, driver alertness alerts, road sign recognition displayed on the digital cluster, and long-range blind spot monitoring.
The new PEUGEOT 408 will be available across Middle Eastern markets in 2023. Originating from France, the car launches with global ambitions.
