Mercedes-Benz launched a new chapter in the Middle East with the regional premiere of the all-electric G 580 powered by EQ technology and the new Mercedes-AMG G 63, during an exclusive evening event held at the Mercedes-Benz Boutique in Dubai Design District on June 10, 2024. The gathering brought together prominent media figures, elite personalities, and celebrities who experienced a unique showcase highlighting innovation and luxury within the iconic G-Class.
Guests were treated to a captivating presentation tracing the history and legacy of the G-Class, featuring various models across generations and spotlighting the distinctive story behind each. This was followed by an emotional video compilation showcasing personal testimonies that reflected the rich heritage of the G-Class, leading up to the unveiling of the event’s two main highlights.

The reveal of the new vehicles generated palpable excitement among attendees. Michael Struband, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East, personally drove the G 580 into the event hall. The evening also featured an art exhibition, live musical performances, saxophone演奏, and a dance troupe.
Launch of the Off-Road Experience Center
The celebrations continued the following day with the opening of the region’s first Off-Road Experience Center at the brand’s Dubai Design District location. The new center features a rugged terrain course designed to replicate the challenging landscapes and obstacles found at the G-Class Experience Center in Graz, offering authentic off-road adventures for Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts across the Middle East. The course showcased the exceptional capabilities of the all-new G 580 and Mercedes-AMG G 63 under extreme conditions, giving guests the privilege of being among the first to experience this immersive journey.

G-Class Heritage Exhibition
The two-day event included a comprehensive exhibition exploring the full history of the G-Class, displaying iconic models such as the 6×6, 4×4², and Maybach G 650 Landaulet. The exhibition highlighted the rich legacy and ongoing evolution of the G-Class from its origins to today’s latest innovations.

Overview of the New All-Electric G-Class
● Advanced Engineering: The EQ-powered G 580 retains the robust chassis concept, including selectable low-range off-road gearing, independent front suspension, and a solid rear axle.
● Powerful Performance: Equipped with an 116 kWh lithium-ion battery, the vehicle offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 473 km. It features four individually controllable electric motors delivering a combined output of 432 kW and a peak torque of 1,164 Nm.
● Innovative Driving Features: Includes G-TURN, G-STEERING, and intelligent crawl functions for off-road driving.
● Enhanced Sound Experience: The G-ROAR sound system delivers a signature G-Class driving tone, an "aura" audio ambiance, and a variety of customizable event sounds.
● Improved Aerodynamics: A slightly raised engine cover, redesigned front A-pillar trim, rear roof wing edge, and "air curtains" in the rear wheel arches enhance aerodynamic efficiency and interior acoustic comfort.
● Digital Off-Road Experience: The new model provides a fully digital off-road driving experience through a reengineered off-road control unit, the new OFFROAD COCKPIT feature, and a transparent engine cover.
● MBUX Infotainment System: The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system includes a 31.2 cm (12.3-inch) driver display and multimedia interface with touch controls as standard.

● High Performance: The Mercedes-AMG G 63 features a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission for swift and smooth gear changes.
● Enhanced Responsiveness: Thanks to the G-Class’ hybrid electrification system, the new models offer improved off-road responsiveness and greater comfort on paved roads. Mild hybrid variants equipped with a 48-volt integrated starter-generator and electric system deliver stronger performance with reduced fuel consumption.
● Premium Luxury Design: The exterior boasts a commanding presence with the MG grille, prominent wheel arches, and large 22-inch wheels. The G-Class was introduced 45 years ago, taking its name from the German word "Geländewagen," meaning "off-road vehicle."
