MG Motor Unveils New Models at 2023 Shanghai Auto Show

Updated 02:15 AM,Apr 26,2023

MG Motor unveils its latest lineup at the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, also known as the Shanghai Auto Show, on April 18, presenting a comprehensive range of products. The British-born brand celebrates its centenary by inviting visitors to immerse themselves in an interactive experience inspired by its diverse family of vehicles, divided into four unique zones: MG International, New Energy, Vehicle Appreciation, and MG 7 Rain House.

The MG Rain House offers guests a chance to take photos with a rain screen and the MG 7, set against a cinematic black backdrop. Meanwhile, the International and New Energy zones provide visitors with an in-depth look at MG’s rich history, key milestones, and international achievements, including the development and launch of its successful fully electric vehicle.

The new MG 7 takes center stage in MG’s lineup, which features five new models showcased prominently on the platform. This car stands out with its sleek fastback design—curved roof and rear end—infused with British elegance. It features frameless doors, a three-part electric adaptive rear wing, and delivers an exceptionally luxurious experience from top to bottom. Equipped with the BOSE® Centerpoint Deep Sea Surround Sound system, high-quality Dinamica® suede materials, a panoramic glass roof, and a smart cockpit featuring the BANMA Luoshen 8155 system, the interior exudes supreme sophistication.

The MG 7 is available with two powertrain options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, or a 1.5T engine with a 7DCT transmission, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. The intelligent electronic suspension mCDC and the electronically controlled limited-slip differential (E-LSD) enhance driving safety while ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride.

Recently, the MG 7 broke and surpassed a world record set by Guinness World Records in March 2023, achieving the highest altitude change ever recorded for a petrol-powered vehicle—a difference of 5,978.17 meters. The journey began on February 25 from Aiding Lake in China, one of the country’s lowest points at 148.379 meters below sea level, then traversed the Gobi Desert and mountainous roads to reach Laqiongla Mountains on March 6, standing at 5,829.788 meters above sea level.

MG Motor invites visitors to join them in Hall 3 during the Shanghai Auto Show, taking place from April 18 to 27, to explore the brand’s storied legacy and experience its latest innovations firsthand.
