MG Motor has announced that its highly anticipated Cyberster model will make its Middle East debut this January, as part of a unique global road tour celebrating the brand’s 100th anniversary.
Inspired by the iconic British MGB, the Cyberster blends cutting-edge automotive technology with innovative electric vehicle features. Its visit to the region underscores MG’s strong commitment to the Middle East market.
The Cyberster’s global journey is a standout initiative within MG’s centenary celebrations, honoring the brand’s rich heritage and legacy spanning 100 years—marked by excellence and innovation in the automotive world.
As MG’s first fully electric two-seater sports car, the Cyberster represents a perfect fusion of futuristic design and exceptional performance. Its striking aesthetic was developed through collaboration between MG’s London Design Studio and SAIC Design Centre in Shanghai. Features include a low front end, curved rear fenders, upward-opening doors, and a sleek, aerodynamic rear profile. In terms of power and performance, the Cyberster is available in two variants: a single-motor version with a 64 kWh battery, or a dual-motor setup with a 77 kWh battery. The top-tier model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
The vehicle is being driven across continents by professional adventurers Ross and Hugo Turner. Their journey began in September 2023 at Westminster Bridge in London, heading toward Shanghai, China. Along the way, they’ve completed remarkable feats, including rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and traversing Greenland’s ice cap. Now, they aim to add another extraordinary milestone to their impressive record with this unique cross-continental expedition.
The Cyberster will travel across the Middle East from January 14 to February 14, 2024, exploring cultural landmarks across all Gulf Cooperation Council nations. Key stops include Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait City, Manama, Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and Muscat in Oman.
Tom Lee, CEO of MG Motor for the Middle East and North Africa region, said: “The Cyberster’s journey across the Middle East highlights the region’s readiness to embrace electric vehicles, supported by growing charging infrastructure. It also serves as a key moment in MG’s centenary celebrations, showcasing the Cyberster’s design rooted in heritage while demonstrating its capabilities to communities and enthusiasts across the region.”
The Middle East plays a central role in MG’s international strategy. The arrival of the Cyberster reaffirms the brand’s ongoing dedication to delivering advanced, sustainable electric mobility solutions worldwide. With the Cyberster leading this transition, MG—proud of its legacy in innovation and two-door sports cars—aims to inspire a global community where electric technology and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
