The Emirates Motors Company, the official authorized dealer for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Abu Dhabi, is unveiling a captivating first look at the fully electric Concept EQG model—a legendary off-road-ready vehicle from the iconic G-Class lineup. This concept vehicle is making its Middle East debut, following earlier sightings by car enthusiasts on Yas Marina Circuit during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Mercedes-Benz presents the Concept EQG as a tangible pre-production vision of a fully electric version of its legendary off-road-capable G-Class. Visually, this concept blends the unmistakable bold styling of the G-Class with signature design cues from Mercedes’ all-electric EQ models, creating a striking contrast. The hallmark four-wheel drive (4x4) capabilities long associated with the G-Class are not only preserved in the era of electric mobility but further enhanced in key aspects. As such, the Concept EQG offers a promising glimpse into what a future Mercedes-Benz G-Class equipped with an electric powertrain could achieve.
The exterior of the Concept EQG feels instantly familiar—not just due to its signature circular headlights. Instead of a traditional radiator grille found on conventional models, this all-electric variant features a fully blacked-out grille. Within this dark panel, the iconic three-dimensional star emblem glows prominently. Surrounding it is the distinctive ‘circular squares’ pattern in blue—recognizable from Mercedes EQ models—creating a strong visual link. A full-length illuminated strip wraps around the black panel, complemented by white-illuminated circles within the outer mirror units, completing the flowing daytime lighting design of the front lights.
The Concept EQG features exclusive 22-inch polished aluminum alloy wheels. Rather than the standard spare wheel cover, there’s a lockable storage box mounted on the rear door, styled like a wall-mounted cabinet. This box can be used, for example, to store the charging cable close at hand for convenient access.
According to Mohammed Ghazi Al-Momani, General Manager of Emirates Motors Company: “The G-Class remains one of the most popular models in the Mercedes-Benz and Emirates Motors portfolio, and we’re excited to be leading the way in bringing this futuristic electric concept to our customers.”
