Maserati has unveiled its participation in the fifth edition of Motor Valley, an outdoor event taking place in Modena from Thursday, May 11 to Sunday, May 14, announcing the discontinuation of production for the iconic engine used in the Trofeo lineup of Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte models by the end of 2023.
This powerful eight-cylinder engine, with a 90-degree angle, delivers 572 horsepower, features twin-turbocharging technology, and is renowned for its distinctive sound and exceptional performance.
These special vehicles will remain available for sale until 2024, becoming exclusive pieces for collectors passionate about the brand’s legacy and its unique engines.
The pioneering brand also revealed the GranTurismo Folgore, its first fully electric vehicle, and the Grecale Folgore, its first fully electric SUV. These unveilings underscore Maserati’s strategic focus on developing and manufacturing electric vehicles. The company aims to launch an electric version of every model by 2025, transitioning entirely to electric vehicles by 2030.
This transformation marks a significant milestone in Maserati’s history, rooted in Modena. The brand looks forward to continuing its evolution while preserving its heritage, offering enthusiasts options that blend authenticity with modernity, elegant design, and outstanding performance. The new models will maintain the same high standards expected by collectors.
Maserati successfully sold over 100,000 units of the Maserati 5000GT, introduced in 1959—the first car to feature a powerful eight-cylinder engine. The brand plans to unveil the latest Trofeo editions, including the Ghibli 334 Altezza and Levante V8 Altezza, during the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023.
Throughout Motor Valley, Maserati celebrates its distinctive innovations with a spectacular display featuring key landmarks across Modena. For the first time, all Maserati Folgore models—including the GranTurismo Folgore, One of Luce, Grecale Folgore, and the third-generation Maserati Tipo Folgore, the single-seater racing car competing in the Formula E series this year—will be showcased in the city’s main square.
Unique pieces from the Trofeo collection, including the final Zeta edition of the Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte, will also be displayed in the central square.
The exhibition at Villa Ciro Minotti will highlight distinguished GranTurismo models by hosting the first and most recent vehicle produced in this exclusive series, bringing together two standout variants: the GranTurismo Zeta and GranTurismo One of Prism.
