Kia has unveiled a unique, Australia-inspired design for its upcoming pickup truck, the Kia Tasman. The name "Tasman" pays homage to Tasmania, a rugged island located at the southern tip of Australia, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and pioneering spirit.
Developed in collaboration with acclaimed Australian and New Zealand artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop, this distinctive wrap design centers around the theme of "the road less traveled," highlighting the adventurous essence of the Kia Tasman pickup.
Inspired by Australia's wild natural beauty, the striking visuals capture the journey of inspiration experienced while driving along the coast and across the desert. The eye-catching exterior design draws from Boyd-Dunlop’s personal adventures, including his long-distance travels through Australia in a pickup truck.
"The Kia Tasman embodies Kia’s commitment to design, innovation, and adventure," said Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Design at Kia. "Artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop created this exclusive wrap design, supported by Kia’s design team, capturing the unique spirit of adventure that defines the Kia Tasman. The concept of 'the road less traveled' reflects the vehicle’s adventurous character, inspiring customers to embark on journeys full of discovery and imagination—relying on a vehicle built for reliability and performance. The Kia Tasman will lead its passengers toward unseen and beautiful horizons."
Designer Richard Boyd-Dunlop added: "This design channels my personal experiences traveling across Australia and the adventures I’ve lived. These moments deeply influenced my work, and creating the Tasman wrap gave me a chance to continue that journey—expressing joy and a complete sense of adventure, which is central to Australian culture."
Boyd-Dunlop captures elements of land and sea in his custom wrap for the Kia Tasman, showcasing his signature style and ability to blend diverse media into bold, powerful visual collaborations. The finish combines the vibrant reds of the desert with blues evoking Australia’s surf culture.
The Kia Tasman, set for launch in 2025, marks Kia’s debut in the mid-size pickup truck segment (Class C). The global rollout will unfold in phases, targeting key markets such as Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Beyond delivering smooth, confident driving, the Kia Tasman is designed to meet diverse customer needs. Built for a 24/7 lifestyle, this versatile vehicle supports high-demand recreational activities, making it ideal for modern, dynamic living.
