Jeep Unveils Seven New Concept Cars at 56th Safari Rally Event

Updated 06:02 AM,Apr 15,2022

Electric powertrains, legendary 4x4 capabilities, and superior performance will take center stage at this year's Easter Jeep Safari. Thousands of off-road enthusiasts and Jeep fans from around the world will gather in Moab between April 9 and 17 for the annual week-long event featuring challenging trail rides and technical off-road driving across rugged terrain. Jeep and Mopar’s Jeep Performance Parts will showcase their most impressive lineup yet, presenting a stunning array of custom-built and electric 4xe-powered concept vehicles ready to conquer the famous red rock landscapes of Moab, Utah.

The concept vehicles set to debut at the 2022 Easter Jeep Safari include:

Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept

Last year, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept proved that battery-electric propulsion is not only compatible with Wrangler’s legacy of high on- and off-road capability but can enhance it. The Wrangler Magneto embodies Jeep’s commitment to "zero-emission freedom."

The maximum power output of the electric drivetrain has more than doubled to 600 amps. This enables the Magneto 2.0 to deliver up to 850 lb-ft of peak torque to the wheels—more than triple the torque of last year’s prototype—alongside 625 horsepower to tackle extreme rock crawling challenges. Thanks to refined tuning of the electric powertrain, the vehicle sustains peak power for up to 10 seconds, functioning like an electronic nitrous boost, allowing the Magneto 2.0 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds.

The Magneto 2.0 commands attention with its "Surf Blue" paint, a carbon fiber center stack, custom soft top, and a carbon fiber hood. The custom hood features a transparent blue-tinted window offering a clear view of the motor underneath.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle)

This spring, Jeep will launch its first electrified Grand Cherokee 4xe, delivering an estimated 56 MPGe and up to 25 miles of all-electric range. The Easter Jeep Safari provides Jeep and its design team the opportunity to elevate production-based models like the Grand Cherokee 4xe to new heights.

The new Trailhawk 4xe is the most sustainable and most capable Grand Cherokee ever built. It successfully completed the Rubicon Trail using electric power alone and is now ready to dominate every obstacle Moab can offer.

Jeep 1941 Concept

At the Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep pays tribute to its iconic past vehicles. This year, the focus is clearly on the classic Willys Jeep. The 1941 Concept blends military-grade durability and determination with modern Wrangler 4xe electric drive technology. The plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain delivers an estimated 49 MPGe and up to 21 miles of near-silent, zero-emission electric-only driving, making it the most capable, advanced, and environmentally friendly Wrangler ever created.

The advanced 4xe powertrain combines two electric motors, a high-voltage battery pack, a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine, and an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, delivering a unique driving experience on both paved roads and rugged trails.

Jeep Rubicon 20th Anniversary Concept

Built on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392—the fastest and most powerful Wrangler ever—the 20th Anniversary Concept continues a remarkable legacy that began two decades ago by setting the benchmark for performance and capability. With its 6.4L V8 engine, custom exterior styling, and premium interior, this model honors two decades of off-road excellence.

The modified four-door Wrangler Rubicon 392 features a dual-mode active exhaust system that shifts between adventurous and aggressive modes, a functional hood scoop, custom half-doors, and a one-touch power Sky One-Touch roof with removable side panels for ultimate open-air freedom.

A matte crystal granite vinyl wrap covers the vehicle, accented with gold tow hooks and badges, a 20th Anniversary Rubicon graphic on the hood, American flag decals on the fenders, and a Mopar air compressor mounted inside the cargo area.

Jeep Buggy Concept

The Jeep Buggy Concept merges two legendary off-roaders—the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator—into a fun and innovative idea: removing traditional pickup bed rails to create a vehicle engineered for conquering the most extreme terrain.

Off-road performance is enhanced with a 3-inch lift using custom suspension components, Dana TM60 axles supported by King springs and bypass-valve shocks, and massive 40-inch tires wrapped around 20-inch beadlock wheels. Together, these elements deliver unmatched confidence in 4x4 capability.

Jeep Gladrinator Concept by Jeep Performance Parts

The black-matte Jeep Gladrinator Concept features 35 accessories from Mopar’s Jeep Performance Parts, each painted in contrasting Maraschino Red and equipped with a QR code. This high-performance off-road machine acts as a mobile catalog of factory-tested, customer-available parts.

Jeep Birdcage Concept by Jeep Performance Parts

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Birdcage Concept is an extreme, ultra-open 4x4 showcasing innovative custom accessories from Jeep Performance Parts and Mopar, demonstrating best-in-class capability powered exclusively by the plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain.

This off-road-focused build includes a newly introduced 2-inch lift kit from Jeep Performance Parts, paired with custom-tuned Fox dampers specifically designed for the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle features a vibrant "Eagle" brown finish with matte crystal granite accents and signature Surf Blue highlights typical of Jeep 4xe models.

For open-air enthusiasts, the windshield and wipers have been removed. The design team concealed the dashboard and created custom water tank caps and mounting points, resulting in a sleek, factory-integrated look with protection from debris. Modern, bold lighting comes from three 14-inch LED "Tire" lights mounted on the upper front crossbar from Jeep Performance Parts.
