Hyundai unveiled its new flagship sport utility vehicle, the 2023 Palisade SUV, during a regional press conference and media test event held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The completely redesigned Palisade features an updated exterior and interior design. Beyond new comfort and safety technologies, the model also includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The new Palisade will be available at Hyundai dealerships across the region in the coming weeks.
The new Palisade’s design has been carefully refined to reflect leadership and luxury, starting with a wider grille that now resembles a powerful shield shape.
The 2023 Palisade introduces several new comfort and convenience features for both drivers and passengers. The driver’s seat now features Ergo technology, designed to enhance comfort and reduce fatigue during long drives. Second-row passengers benefit from improved comfort with additional winged headrests and seat ventilation for added relaxation. A smart technological feature aimed at enhancing driver comfort is the full-screen digital center rearview mirror, which uses a rear-facing camera to provide clear visibility behind the vehicle without obstruction from passengers or cargo. The large 12-inch user-centric display offers numerous
The Palisade’s strength lies in its wide range of engine options. Starting with a 3.5-liter V6 MPI engine producing 272 horsepower and 330 Newton-meters of torque. For enhanced performance, there's a 3.8-liter V6 engine with Atkinson cycle, dual CVVT valve timing, and direct injection, delivering excellent power and efficiency. This engine produces 295 horsepower and 355 Newton-meters of torque. Power is delivered to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with a multi-plate torque converter, offering front-wheel drive and HTRAC® all-wheel drive. With a final drive ratio of 3.648, the Palisade delivers confident acceleration. The vehicle operates with remarkable quietness, thanks to extensive engine compartment insulation, special sound-absorbing carpeting, and a finely tuned transmission system that ensures smooth, linear responsiveness.
The new Palisade comes equipped with Hyundai’s HTRAC® AWD system, developed as a multi-mode system featuring an electronically controlled variable torque coupling with active control over torque distribution between front and rear axles. Driver-selectable modes—Normal, Sport, and Smart—provide confident handling in all weather conditions. The Sport mode enhances agility by directing more torque to the rear wheels, delivering a dynamic driving experience when desired. This system offers a broader range of torque distribution variation compared to many competing systems and has been calibrated for various driving scenarios, including straight-line acceleration, high or medium-speed cornering, and hill launches.
Safety is paramount in the family-oriented Palisade SUV, so the 2023 model features the latest safety technologies and driver assistance innovations. All cabin occupants are protected by standard side-impact airbags. The expanding suite of advanced driver assistance systems includes forward collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane keeping assist, and rear traffic alert. Additional features include reverse collision avoidance assist and remote smart parking assistance.
