Two legendary icons of off-road adventure have joined forces to achieve something even greater: the all-new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. Engineered for desert racing and conquering massive rock formations, this new Bronco Raptor delivers next-level performance for off-road enthusiasts.
The Bronco Raptor, the most rugged member of the Bronco lineup designed for outdoor adventurers, embodies the "Built Untamed"™ philosophy. It’s the strongest Bronco ever made—capable on paved roads and built for extreme terrain. As the world’s first production SUV inspired by the brutal Ultra4 off-road racing series, it was developed by Ford Performance, the same team behind the F-150 Raptor, to meet the demands of hardcore off-road drivers.
The three-mode 4×4 system features a high-capacity transfer case designed for demanding desert conditions. The upgraded transmission offers a 3.06 ratio in 4×4 LO mode, with a maximum crawl ratio of up to 67.7:1 for precise low-speed control.
Collaborating with FOX™, Ford Performance enhanced the high-speed, off-road HOSS suspension system with Live Valve technology. Like the adaptive damping found in the F-150 Raptor, the new HOSS 4.0 system uses semi-active FOX 3.1 shocks (3.1-inch diameter) uniquely tuned front and rear. Internal reservoirs are located on the front side, while additional external reservoirs are mounted at the rear. Height sensors and other position monitors analyze road conditions hundreds of times per second, dynamically adjusting damping settings in real time.
Exclusive control arms engineered by Ford Performance provide maximum wheel articulation—13.0 inches in front and 14.0 inches in the rear—an increase of 60% in the front and 40% in the rear compared to the base Bronco model. To ensure confidence and speed worthy of the world’s first Ultra4-inspired production SUV, Ford Performance partnered with BFGoodrich to equip the Bronco Raptor with standard 37×12.50R17LT KO2 tires—the largest available on any production SUV in North America. 17x8.5-inch wheels with custom beadlock design are also included. Additional upgrades include an F-150 Raptor-inspired steering gear, larger front and rear control arm bushings, and reinforced suspension components—all contributing to superior off-road capability.
To power the Bronco Raptor’s desert dominance, Ford’s Performance engineers developed a specially tuned 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost® engine calibrated to Raptor standards. With a targeted output of 400 horsepower*, it becomes the most powerful legally street-legal Bronco ever produced. Enhanced intercooling and air intake systems are specifically designed to withstand extreme desert heat.
For the first time, the Bronco Raptor combines the iconic Raptor DNA with the innovative "Built Untamed"™ identity of the Bronco truck.
The vehicle features a classic 12-inch horizontal instrument cluster with fully digital driving displays. Customizable display modes include the Bronco Raptor-specific Performance View, which highlights the tachometer and gear position, along with customizable gauges for driver preference.
Standard features include the High Package, which comes with a 12-inch touchscreen SYNC4® system with gesture control, a configurable digital dashboard, and an improved voice recognition system. Additional tech highlights include a 360-degree camera system. For those seeking a more human-centered experience, the Lux Package is available, featuring a premium B&O audio system with ten speakers and adaptive cruise control.
