Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue, the brand’s first four-door, four-seater model ever, amid great anticipation at Teatro del Silenzio in La Grotta near Pisa.
Two-plus-two seating layouts—featuring two front seats and smaller rear seats—have long been a cornerstone of Ferrari’s strategy since its founding. The marque has consistently combined exceptional performance with superior comfort, a key factor in its enduring success. Today, building on 75 years of advanced engineering, Ferrari has crafted an extraordinary vehicle that unites powerful performance, exhilarating driving dynamics, comfort, and the striking visual presence central to the Italian brand’s iconic philosophy—giving rise to the name Purosangue, meaning "purebred" in Italian.
Ferrari adopted a bold, innovative design inspired by modern GT vehicles—sports cars and crossover models—driven by ambitious goals to deliver a car worthy of the brand’s legacy. Traditionally, Ferraris feature a front-mounted GT engine directly connected to the front axle and gearbox, enabling balanced weight distribution that grants drivers dynamic versatility and the signature driving pleasure synonymous with the marque.
In contrast, the Purosangue features a mid-to-front engine placement, with the transmission located at the rear, resulting in a sleek, sporty profile. The powertrain unit is positioned ahead of the engine, delivering unique all-wheel drive capability and achieving a near-perfect 49:51 weight distribution—precisely engineered by Maranello’s engineers for high-performance vehicles with engines placed between the center and front.
The Purosangue surpasses its competitors through unmatched performance and comfort. It stands alone as the only model in its class combining high-performance attributes with a naturally aspirated 12-cylinder engine mounted between the center and front—a groundbreaking new engine from Maranello that delivers exceptional output (725 horsepower). The engine provides 80% of its torque even at low engine speeds, offering unrivaled driving enjoyment across all road conditions.
Aerodynamic efficiency was enhanced through structural reinforcement of the body, underbody, and rear diffuser. New solutions include a fully integrated front bumper and wheel arch design, creating an airflow curtain that shields the front wheels and eliminates disruptive crosswinds.
Ferrari equipped the new model with the latest advanced handling systems found in its top-tier sports cars, including four-wheel steering, the ABS Evo system, and a six-mode chassis motion sensor. The Purosangue features Ferrari’s debut of the Active Suspension System (F.A.S.T.), which offers superior control over the vehicle’s structure during turns and increased contact patch on uneven surfaces, ensuring consistent performance and stable response akin to dedicated sports cars.
The completely new chassis uses a carbon fiber surface to reduce weight and lower the center of gravity. This innovative design also accommodates rear doors for easier access. The cabin includes four electrically heated and comfortable seats, while the trunk is the largest ever offered in a Ferrari, with foldable rear seats providing additional cargo space. While sharing core characteristics with other Ferraris, the Purosangue stands out with a broader range of driving control features. As a result, Ferrari maintained a comfortable driving position with a low seat height, improving driver access to controls and instrumentation.
The Purosangue delivers exceptional performance: accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, and reaching 200 km/h in 10.6 seconds, powered by a naturally aspirated 12-cylinder engine and featuring a distinctive driving experience. It also includes premium comfort features such as the Bowers & Wilkins© sound system and optional interior upgrades like a newly designed Alcantara® upholstery made from recycled polyester, elevating the overall driving experience.
