Toyota Gulf, the exclusive distributor of Toyota vehicles in the United Arab Emirates, has launched the sporty GR Sport version of the Toyota Hilux—the most rugged pickup truck in the world. Renowned for its ability to conquer all types of terrain, from the Arctic and Antarctic regions to the Dakar Rally, this model stands out for its exceptional off-road prowess.
The Hilux GR Sport features a dynamic exterior design, including a three-dimensional front grille patented by Toyota, a uniquely crafted front bumper that enhances the vehicle’s bold presence, and LED headlights. Paired with a rugged skid plate, widened wheel arches accommodating 18-inch alloy wheels and large tires, and distinctive door handles and rear tailgate design, the Hilux GR Sport delivers striking aesthetics on both paved roads and rough terrains.
Equipped with a proven and reliable 4-liter V6 six-cylinder engine, the Hilux GR Sport offers an advanced 4WD system activated at the touch of a button, along with selectable driving modes—Eco and Power—and a highly intelligent six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shifting. This setup ensures outstanding performance across diverse road conditions. Special attention was given during development to the suspension system, enhancing ride comfort and driving control. The suspension and steering systems have undergone refinements, allowing for a new limited-slip automatic differential that improves handling on paved roads while boosting traction and control on off-road surfaces. The downhill assist system maintains a steady, low speed of approximately 3 mph without requiring brake pedal use. Meanwhile, the active traction control (A-TRAC) system detects loss of grip on one or more wheels, automatically applies brakes to the slipping wheels, redirects power to those with better traction, and activates the downhill assist for maximum stability.
