Once again, Ford Motor Company has captured the attention of the global pickup truck market by unveiling the all-new Ranger truck. The development of the latest Ranger generation is built on a unique concept Ford calls "Living Ranger Life," a philosophy shared by all members of the design and engineering teams involved in creating this exceptional vehicle.
Visually, the new Ranger embraces a bold and confident exterior design with distinctive features that reflect Ford's global truck heritage. From the front, the Ranger now features a fresh grille and signature C-shaped headlights, while its body incorporates a slim line running along the sides, seamlessly blending into the wheel arches for a more assertive and stable stance. For the first time, the Ranger will be equipped with LED matrix headlights. At the rear, the taillights are designed to harmonize perfectly with the distinctive front profile. Inside, the new Ranger boasts an interior resembling that of a premium car, featuring soft-touch materials, a prominent vertical touchscreen display, and Ford’s advanced SYNC® 4 infotainment system.
Alongside the completely redesigned exterior, the new Ranger features an enhanced chassis with a 50-millimeter longer wheelbase and a 50-millimeter wider track compared to the previous model. The front end offers increased engine compartment space, accommodating the new six-cylinder engine, and provides room for future powertrain enhancements. The front hood can also be opened to improve airflow to the radiator, helping maintain lower temperatures during heavy towing or hauling tasks.
Ranger customers seek greater power and torque to handle heavy loads and off-road driving. To meet these demands, the engineering team introduced a specially developed 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 engine. Customers can choose from three different turbo-diesel engines, depending on their regional market.
In addition, the all-new Ranger will offer a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost gasoline engine, known for its high performance and enhanced by Ford’s global technology portfolio—making it the ideal choice for those preferring gasoline over diesel.
For transmission options, Ford has introduced a new 10-speed automatic gearbox and a six-speed manual transmission.
The new Ranger generation will be manufactured at Ford’s plants in Thailand and South Africa starting in 2022, with plans to expand production to other markets in the future. Launch details for each region will be announced in due course.
