Cortiva to Go Electric!

Updated 03:22 PM,Jun 17,2022

The longest-produced model among all vehicles on the road today is undergoing one of its most significant transformations in history: transitioning to electric power.

Besides the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and upcoming gasoline-powered variants, Chevrolet will soon introduce two new Corvette models based on the Altium battery platform—one featuring hybrid technology and another fully electric. Further details and market availability will be announced at a later date, but the hybrid version is expected to launch in the U.S. market early in 2023.

Although specific details remain undisclosed, performance enthusiasts know these cars will be exceptional. Each new Corvette has always outperformed its predecessor, and these new models are no exception. The Corvette engineering team, located within the dedicated electric vehicle facility in Warren, Michigan, will continue building on past achievements while pushing to make the Corvette even more revolutionary.

In addition, General Motors has unveiled an innovative energy recovery system for the Altium platform—a patented technology that harnesses heat generated by the vehicle’s batteries to warm the cabin, improve charging efficiency, and even boost acceleration. This system can also increase driving range by approximately 10 percent.

This innovation exemplifies the advantages of developing an electric vehicle platform from the ground up, such as Altium, which enables unique features that would be difficult to achieve through retrofitting.
