Changan Automobile, the top-selling brand in China in 2022, has launched its UNI series in the United Arab Emirates. Inspired by "Yin Li" (引力), meaning "gravity" in English, the UNI series embodies the premium line of Changan Automobile.
Changan began its journey in 2016 with three models. Today, during a major launch event, Changan Automobile offers eight models across its production line, including the premium UNI series.
All models, including the UNI-K, UNI-T, and the sporty UNI-T now available in the UAE, feature sleek futuristic designs, cutting-edge technology, and superior build quality.
A single glance at the UNI series reveals the full vision behind it—a journey of endless exploration, embracing individuality. Each Changan vehicle delivers a unique driving experience, and the UNI series represents the future of smooth, effortless driving.
Regarding the UNI lineup, the UNI-K, a mid-size SUV, is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 233 horsepower. The first thing that catches attention about the UNI-K is its intricately detailed front grille. To enhance its sci-fi-inspired appearance, it boasts a peak torque of 390 Newton-meters, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to both axles via an all-wheel-drive system. For a complete visual impact, the car features an aerodynamic airfoil resembling a floating balloon, along with a transmission design inspired by a futuristic warship.
The UNI-T is a crossover equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 177 horsepower. It stands out with a revolutionary design, particularly its boundaryless front grille. With a maximum torque of 300 Newton-meters, it comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. To complete its dynamic exterior, it includes a V-shaped wing enhancing stability at high speeds and an electronic transmission design reminiscent of science fiction films.
The UNI lineup enables L2-level autonomous driving, featuring advanced safety systems such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Assistance System (LAS), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), and Lane Change Decision Aid (LCDA). The system is supported by four high-resolution wide-angle cameras providing real-time 360-degree visibility around the vehicle for enhanced safety and secure parking.
In general, before introducing any Changan model to the GCC markets, vehicles undergo rigorous extreme heat testing under the harshest road and weather conditions. Changan successfully completed extreme heat challenges for the UNI series in the UAE last year.
