Just months after the launch of the new BMW XM, BMW M GmbH unveils the flagship version of the brand’s first high-performance vehicle powered by an electric drivetrain. The BMW XM Label Red combines the M HYBRID system with enhanced power and bespoke design elements that highlight its elite performance character. With a total output of 748 horsepower—derived from a 585-horsepower V8 internal combustion engine and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission producing up to 197 horsepower—it becomes the most powerful BMW M model ever built. It also leads in both SUV and coupé performance categories.
The BMW XM Label Red will make its global debut at the Shanghai International Auto Show in April 2023. China is one of the key markets for this model, alongside the United States and the Middle East. The vehicle will be available for ordering through authorized dealers worldwide starting April 28, 2023.
The M Hybrid system in the BMW XM Label Red showcases the dynamic impact of electrified drivetrains in high-performance BMW models with remarkable finesse. The precise interaction between the electric motor and the V8 engine ensures instant power delivery that builds continuously across the rev range, reaching peak performance levels seamlessly.
In the BMW XM Label Red, the V8 engine contributes significantly to the overall power output, supported by the electric motor. Peak power reaches 585 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, while maximum torque hits 750 Newton-meters, available across a wide rev range from 1,800 to 5,400 rpm. The latest generation of the V8 delivers power with exceptional speed, improved efficiency, and lower emissions.
Equipped with electronically controlled, continuously adjustable flaps, the sport exhaust system provides an emotionally rich soundtrack that brings the engine's power to life in a vibrant, dynamic way—uncommon for a V8 engine. Instant power delivery: an innovative pre-gear electric motor.
The electric motor draws energy from a high-voltage lithium-ion battery housed beneath the chassis, based on the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. It offers 25.7 kWh of usable energy. Combined with the high-efficiency electric motor and intelligent energy management, the vehicle achieves an all-electric range between 75 and 83 kilometers under WLTP standards. This means the BMW XM Label Red can accompany you through city drives and rural journeys with zero emissions and near-silent operation. The top speed in pure electric mode is 140 km/h. The integrated charging unit supports AC charging at up to 7.4 kW, allowing the high-voltage battery to recharge from 0% to 100% in just 4.25 hours.
Only 500 units of the limited-edition BMW XM Label Red will be produced worldwide, enhancing its exclusivity and featuring a more expressive design.
