BMW Unveils Fully New Electric Model

Updated 11:57 AM,Apr 22,2022

BMW is leading the luxury automotive sector into a new era of innovation and prosperity, driven by cutting-edge technologies in sustainability and digital integration at the core of the all-new BMW 7 Series.

This vision is clearly embodied in the all-electric BMW 7 Series, which joins the brand’s luxury lineup as a fully electric sedan. The new model demonstrates how exclusive driving experiences and ultimate comfort can coexist with a strong commitment to sustainability. The BMW 7 Series offers a diverse range of powertrains, from powerful internal combustion engines, through harmoniously balanced parallel hybrid systems, to the latest fully electric variant—introduced for the first time ever.

The all-new BMW 7 Series features a modern design focused on essential elements of both exterior and interior styling. The front fascia reflects hallmark innovations typical of BMW’s luxury models, maintaining a distinct identity that sets them apart across the BMW lineup. Advanced technological features include the BMW Theater Screen, the multi-sensory BMW iDrive experience powered by the latest generation of BMW Operating System 8, the curved BMW display, and intelligent parking assistance systems for tight maneuvering—raising the bar for luxury electric sedans.

The all-new BMW 7 Series supports its mission toward sustainable mobility with ambitious goals to reduce carbon footprint, a strategic priority for the model line since its inception. A UAE-based company has been supplying BMW with aluminum produced using clean solar energy since 2021. This lightweight metal is manufactured using electricity generated from a solar power plant located in the Dubai desert. The aluminum from this supplier will meet nearly half of the annual requirements for BMW Landshut—the sole European facility responsible for casting lightweight metals for BMW—and will be used to produce critical components for the electric motor in the BMW 7 Series, including cylinder heads, engine casings, and parts for the electric-mechanical drive system, as well as structural body components.

Expressive design details highlight the robustness and advanced engineering of the new BMW 7 Series, pushing boundaries in the world of luxury and durable vehicles. The front end features a bold vertical structure combining a large illuminated kidney grille, enhancing the car’s strong presence and unique character. The headlights are innovatively designed as two identical, symmetrical units, giving the 7 Series a distinctive and highly individual look.

The interior design achieves a pioneering balance between dynamic driving performance and exceptional travel comfort, defining the latest generation of the BMW 7 Series. The cabin delivers an innovative and luxurious atmosphere for an extraordinary journey, featuring the curved BMW display, multiple digital screens, enhanced driver comfort features, the all-new BMW Interaction Bar lighting strip, and modern gearshift design.

The second-row rear seats are thoughtfully designed with contemporary style and ample space, complemented by innovative surrounding elements that reflect the model’s elegance and evolution—such as the BMW Theater Screen and ultra-advanced, highly adjustable seating with exceptional control functions—adding distinctive marks of luxury and ultimate comfort.

The BMW 7 Series lineup expands globally with two new BMW M variants equipped with electric drivetrains. The first, the BMW M760e xDrive, delivers 571 horsepower and 800 Newton meters of torque. The new model will be officially unveiled in spring 2023. Its electric motor provides a temporary boost of 40 horsepower when acceleration is activated. The exterior and interior design, along with a dual-exhaust system, embody the creative engineering philosophy and standout performance traits of BMW M, now integrated with hybrid technology.

The second variant, the new BMW i7 M70 xDrive, features a fully electric dual-motor setup on both axles. It will be available in markets shortly in 2023. The vehicle generates over 600 horsepower and a maximum torque exceeding 1,000 Newton meters. It ranks among the fastest BMWs on roads, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4.0 seconds.

The BMW Theater Screen, equipped with an integrated Amazon Fire TV, stands out as one of the most luxurious comfort features offered by the new BMW 7 Series. It includes a 31.311-inch touch-sensitive display, a precise Bowers & Wilkins sound system with seat-specific audio effects, built-in remote controls within the innovative touch-enabled BMW Touch Command screen, and an automatic rear window shading system that activates when the BMW Theater Screen is in use.
