The BMW M4 CSL has set a new record for the fastest lap ever recorded by a car in this class during recent test sessions at the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. It achieved an impressive 0–100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration in just 3.7 seconds, and a rapid 0–200 km/h (124 mph) sprint in 10.7 seconds under full race mode.
The term "CSL" stands for performance, competitiveness, sportiness, and lightweight engineering—highlighting the critical role of innovative design focused on weight reduction to create a complete sports car.
The exterior of the new BMW M4 CSL is finished in metallic gray "Frozen Brooklyn," harmonizing with exposed carbon fiber surfaces and accentuated by red detailing that adds strength and dynamic flair. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic components were used throughout the exterior and interior, including the engine cover.
The high-performance engine gives the car a true racing identity. It features a twin-turbocharger system borrowed from the BMW M4 GT3 race car, delivering outstanding power without compromising durability, stability, or handling. The BMW M4 CSL uses rear-wheel drive, connected to an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission equipped with Drivelogic technology.
Enhancements across the new BMW M4 CSL include a high-revving engine, a rigidly engineered chassis designed to complement the power unit’s capabilities. The model achieves a significant reduction in overall weight while maintaining structural rigidity, enabling exceptional driver engagement, vibrant dynamics, and precise control—hallmarks of BMW M vehicles.
