Car Zero, the first car in Bentley's Blower Continuation Series, is set to compete in a series of events throughout 2023, once again showcasing the storied legacy of the original iconic vehicle. As part of this initiative, Blower Car Zero will take center stage on racetracks across the United Kingdom, France, and Belgium, participating in a series of races designed to test its performance and endurance. These events will fulfill engineering validation goals while simultaneously honoring its distinguished heritage.
The Blower Continuation Series, the first-ever continuation series ever created for a pre-war automobile, has been handcrafted using a unique blend of modern laser-scanning data and original design drawings. The three-dimensional plans and digital models were derived from the 1929 4½-liter supercharged Team Car #2—widely regarded as the most famous Bentley in the world and a centerpiece of the Bentley Heritage Collection. Ninety-three years after the original Blower competed at Le Mans and other legendary circuits, Car Zero will carry forward its lineage, racing to win—including a prominent appearance at Circuit de la Sarthe, marking the first time a Bentley has participated in Le Mans since Speed 8's victory in 2003.
Modifications made to prepare Blower Car Zero for competition have been kept to an absolute minimum and are strictly limited to safety enhancements. These include rain lights, wing mirrors, towing points, a fire extinguisher, and a battery isolation switch. The car now holds a Historic Technical Passport (HTP), confirming its eligibility to compete in FIA-sanctioned historic racing events.
In preparation for its racing debut, Car Zero recently completed a six-hour endurance test at racing speeds on the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Driven by British racer Stuart Muller, the car demonstrated smooth, reliable performance throughout the trial, covering 380 miles at an average speed of 83 miles per hour.
