Audi Middle East and Museum of the Future mark third year with debut of ActiveSphere prototype

Updated 12:10 PM,Feb 1,2024

Audi Middle East and the Museum of the Future have announced the arrival of the pioneering Audi activesphere concept vehicle, marking a new chapter in their close collaborative relationship. The activesphere embodies the innovative efforts of Audi and the Museum of the Future, and will be prominently displayed within the museum. As part of Audi's Sphere series—alongside grandsphere, urbansphere, and skysphere—it reflects Audi's vision for dynamic, personalized driving experiences.

The activesphere seamlessly transforms from an elegant sportback into a versatile pickup truck, offering ample space for adventure gear and meeting modern lifestyle demands. This transition allows the vehicle to carry high-end sports equipment, including room for two electric bicycles in the cargo area. Its multi-functional design meets the needs of diverse journeys and adventurous living, enabling smooth transitions between urban commuting and off-road exploration.

The exterior design of the activesphere exudes boldness, enhanced by its 4.98-meter length and 22-inch wheels that command attention on the road. The distinctive single-frame grille, updated with a daring new look, adds a contemporary edge, while the front and rear lighting features dynamic, multi-shaped patterns enabled by triangular pixel modules, adapting to various usage scenarios.

Inside, the activesphere’s interior is designed to keep passengers connected to the outside world. Technologically, the innovative operating system, called “Audi dimensions,” blends the real and virtual worlds, delivering augmented reality for navigation. Advanced wireless headphones provide immersive views of the surroundings and roadway, displaying three-dimensional content with interactive elements. The cabin offers a uniquely cozy atmosphere, making passengers feel at home, while maintaining seamless connectivity—creating a perfect fusion of ultimate comfort and cutting-edge technology that elevates the entire driving experience.

The activesphere raises innovation standards by smoothly retracting the dashboard, steering wheel, and pedals into the first row of seats during autonomous driving mode. This creates a spacious, open feel extending toward the front windshield and beyond, offering passengers unobstructed views through the panoramic single-pane glass. Autonomous off-road capabilities further enhance freedom of movement for both driver and passengers. Combined with a variable ground clearance adjustable by up to 40 mm, the vehicle delivers an exceptional off-road experience and optimized aerodynamics, ensuring a comprehensive driving experience aligned with future mobility needs.

The activesphere delivers the high-performance characteristics synonymous with Audi, integrating impressive capabilities, striking design, and advanced technology. The intelligent electric powertrain significantly reduces charging time—just 10 minutes of charging enables over 300 kilometers of range. The battery charges from 5% to 85% in under 25 minutes at 100 kilowatt-hours, allowing travel exceeding 600 kilometers before needing recharge. By combining sustainability, long-range capability, and zero emissions, the activesphere advances modern electric vehicle technology, delivering a high-performance, eco-friendly driving experience.

Majid Al Mansouri, Executive Vice President of the Museum of the Future, said: “We are honored to collaborate with Audi Middle East in showcasing the groundbreaking activesphere concept at our museum. This partnership underscores our shared commitment to innovation and institutional excellence. The activesphere stands as one of Audi’s most significant achievements in sustainable mobility, strategically aligning with the UAE’s future sustainability goals. Through this collaboration, Audi Middle East reinforces its vision for sustainable future mobility and its plans for environmentally friendly electric vehicles—supporting the strategic initiatives of the Museum of the Future and the UAE government. We invite all visitors to witness the future of luxury mobility embodied in the activesphere. We look forward to even deeper cooperation that redefines industry standards and strengthens a sustainable, promising future vision.”

René Koniburg, General Manager of Audi Middle East, said: “The activesphere concept reflects our vision for luxury mobility in the future. We are excited to unveil it at the Museum of the Future, reaffirming Audi’s unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability while introducing the public to the future of transportation. This is more than just a concept car—it represents the future of Audi through leading-edge technologies that will transform the automotive world. We welcome everyone to explore the activesphere, a true embodiment of tomorrow’s mobility.”

Visitors to the Museum of the Future can view the activesphere, on display in the ‘Our Future Today’ exhibition until June 24, 2024.
