Aston Martin has unveiled the new DB12 Volante, a convertible model joining the recently launched DB12 coupe lineup. As the first vehicle from Aston Martin's new generation of sports cars, the DB12 Volante combines high-performance dynamics with the refined handling of a luxury grand tourer and delivers an exhilarating open-air driving experience.
The DB12 Volante marks the latest addition to Aston Martin’s exclusive range of high-performance convertibles, distinguished by its athletic character and unmatched elegance within its class. The car upholds the brand’s renowned craftsmanship and luxury, enhanced with cutting-edge technology and modern design elements to deliver an unparalleled driving experience.
Equipped with exceptional features that highlight Aston Martin’s engineering excellence and advanced innovation, the DB12 Volante matches its coupe counterparts in performance and refinement. It sets a new benchmark in its category for power, performance, and dynamic capabilities, solidifying its status as the preferred choice for discerning drivers.
With a distinctive, powerful sound and industry-leading performance, the DB12 Volante is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers. A dedicated team of Aston Martin engineers designed and hand-built this flagship engine, producing 680 horsepower (671 actual horsepower at 6,000 rpm) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque between 2,750–6,000 rpm. Key enhancements include revised camshafts, improved compression ratios, larger turbochargers, and advanced cooling systems—delivering a 34% power increase over the previous DB11 model. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds or 0 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 202 mph.
It features rapid and smooth responsiveness thanks to an electronically assisted steering system, a non-assisted steering column, and a fixed steering ratio of 13.9:1. Standard 21-inch aluminum wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport S5 tires bearing Aston Martin Lagonda branding, manufactured to the brand’s exacting standards. The DB12 Volante also comes with 400 mm front and 360 mm rear iron brake discs, with an optional carbon ceramic braking system available to enhance stopping power, reduce wear, and save 27 kg of unsprung mass.
The roof opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds, and can be operated while driving at speeds up to 31 mph—even in reverse winds reaching the same speed. Remote control via key fob is available within a two-meter radius, offering added convenience and seamless operation.
The car’s striking design includes four distinct color options for the hood: black as standard, or red, blue, or a black-and-silver combination. This wide selection ensures perfect harmony with the extensive range of exterior and interior color choices available.
DB12 Volante also introduces a new audio experience through a collaboration with Powers & Wilkins. It features the Aston Martin 390-watt audio system with 11 speakers, delivering immersive surround sound enhanced by QuantumLogic® audio processing for superior sonic performance. For audiophiles, Aston Martin has developed the optional Halo system, integrating the latest innovations from Powers & Wilkins’ high-end audio technologies.
Aston Martin will showcase the global debut of the DB12 Volante during Monterey Car Week in California. The car was first revealed at the “The Quail” vintage car event on Friday and later displayed at the exclusive Aston Martin Club 1913 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance over the weekend.
Production of the DB12 Volante is set to begin in Q3 2023, with customer deliveries starting in Q4 of the same year.
