The all-electric 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the first of its kind, raised $1.1 million USD for the educational nonprofit DonorsChoose during the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction on April 15. Tadge Juechter, Chief Engineer for Corvette, attended the event and helped energize the auction, encouraging higher bids that ultimately secured the E-Ray's impressive sale.
DonorsChoose was founded in 2000 to empower teachers with resources they need, connecting donors directly to classroom requests. To date, it has fulfilled needs for over 2.5 million classrooms. Rick Hendrick, CEO and president of Hendrick Automotive Group and owner of the 14-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Hendrick Motorsports, won the auction. The full proceeds will support DonorsChoose’s mission to help schools in low-income communities access essential learning resources.

The E-Ray marks a milestone in the 70-year legacy of the Corvette, expanding the brand’s offerings. It features a rear-mounted 6.2-liter small-block V-8 engine paired with an electric motor at the front axle, making it the first all-wheel-drive Corvette with a combined output of 655 horsepower. As a result, it is the fastest Corvette ever built, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.
Before this, Chevrolet also held auctions for the first production models of the 2020 Stingray and 2023 Z06, both destined for retail sales. Together, these vehicles from the eighth generation raised a total of $9.1 million USD for charitable causes through Barrett-Jackson auctions.
