2023 Hyundai Santa Fe: A Powerful, Luxurious Multi-Use SUV

Updated 02:35 PM,Aug 15,2023

The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV makes its digital world premiere under the concept of "Open to More," highlighting the radical shift toward a new wide rear door-centric design.

The fifth-generation Santa Fe enhances the appeal of this mid-size, city-friendly, adventure-ready SUV with class-leading interior space resembling a balcony—made possible by a longer wheelbase and larger rear door opening. The extended wheelbase also enables improved third-row seating in the new model.

For the first complete redesign since 2018, Hyundai Motor adopted an unconventional design strategy by starting from the expanded rear door area to better facilitate outdoor enjoyment, then moving on to the exterior styling.

The new model's boxy, efficient shape and long wheelbase emphasize a strong presence, while its precisely crafted exterior design complements both urban environments and natural landscapes.

The completely redesigned front end creates a powerful first impression, featuring a raised hood, H-shaped headlights, and sharply defined air intakes. The H-shaped headlights and lower grille design draw inspiration from Hyundai’s emblem, delivering a bold and distinctive look.

The longer wheelbase gives the all-new Santa Fe a luxurious feel, completed by a clean side profile with a bold roof line, prominent fender flares, strong wheel arches, a shorter front overhang, and striking 21-inch wheels.

The rear view, highlighted by its wider rear door, reinforces a sense of solidity while creating a more sculptural, simplified appearance. The H-shaped taillights harmonize with the front H-shaped lights, giving the all-new Santa Fe a standout presence on the road.

The completely redesigned interior contrasts the exterior with a focus on horizontal and vertical design elements that match the mood and tone of the exterior. The H-shaped motif appears on the dashboard and air vents, enhancing the feeling of openness and establishing a unique design balance.

The new interior features practical comfort enhancements, such as a UV-C sterilization tray and dual wireless smartphone charging, delivering an advanced user experience reminiscent of premium SUVs. The first-of-its-kind panoramic curved display includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster and infotainment system, improving driver visibility and adding a touch of luxury.

For the all-new Santa Fe, Hyundai prioritized living space by increasing legroom in the second and third rows. The SUV delivers the best-in-class comfort for third-row passengers (with reclining seats) and improved headroom, responding directly to customer feedback.

In Korea and North America, the all-new Santa Fe will be offered with two powertrain options. The 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (Theta III 2.5T GDI – 8DCT) delivers a maximum output of 281 horsepower and peak torque of 43.0 kg·m. The 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid gasoline engine (Gamma III 1.6T GDI HEV – 6AT) offers a maximum output of 180 horsepower and peak torque of 27.0 kg·m.

In Europe, the all-new Santa Fe will be available with two transmission options: the 1.6-liter turbo-hybrid engine (Gamma III 1.6T GDI HEV – 6AT), or the 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid gasoline engine (Gamma III 1.6T GDI PHEV – 6AT), both producing a maximum output of 160 horsepower and peak torque of 27.0 kg·m.

In other regions, the all-new Santa Fe will feature a 2.5-liter gasoline engine (Theta III 2.5 GDI – 8AT) with a maximum output of 194 horsepower and peak torque of 25.1 kg·m.
